Locate the LOS800 where it hasan unobstructed view of the room, particularly the areas normallyoccupied by people. Ideal mount-ing height is 3.5 to 4.5 feet abovethe floor.

If people cannot see the sensorlens from their normal positions inthe room, the sensor will not detecttheir presence.

High cabinets, walls, doors andother obstructions may limit thesensor’s view of the entire room. Ifobstructions can be moved thesensor will have a better view. Ifthe areas obstructed are not areasnormally occupied, the sensor willstill be able to see normal occupancy.

Cabinet obstructs sensor’sview of active area

Obstruction moved, sensorhas full view

If the room is L shaped or the sensor’sview is badly obstructed from thedoor switch location, use theLOS2500 ceiling mounted sensorinstead of the LOS800.

Do not locate sensor over or lookingat heating vents, baseboardheaters, hanging plants or air conditioners.

Do not locate sensor where it willview direct sunlight.

If the sensor’s location gives it aview of the other rooms or hallways, lights will be turned on whenmovement is detected in theseadjacent areas. If this is undesirable, the sensor’s detection zone maybe restricted by covering a portionof the lens with a white paper labelor tape.

Installation Step by Step

1. Remove the existing switch, ifnecessary.

2. Connect as shown in the wiringdiagrams. See page 3.

3. Twist on wire nuts. Secure withelectrical tape. Mount LOS800 inwall box with two screws provided.

4. Place switch in OFF positionbefore turning on power.

5. Press the Auto/Off switch IN to“Auto”. After a short delay, thelights will turn ON. When the roomis vacated, the lights will turn OFFafter the time delay you set.

6. See “Adjustments” section forcontrol options. Only make adjust-ments after a 3 minute warmupperiod.

7. Attach the wall plate.

Caution:• TURN OFF ALL POWER BYREMOVING THE POWER FUSESOR TURNING OFF THE CIRCUITBREAKER FOR YOUR SAFETYAND TO PREVENT DAMAGE TOTHE UNIT.

• Please read this entire Owner’sManual before installing.

• All wiring should comply withlocal electrical codes and requires a qualified electrician.

• Make sure the total lighting loadconnected to the LOS800 does notexceed the following:

120v: 800w Incandescent & Fluorescent

277v: 1200w Incandescent & Fluorescent

Exceeding the wattage limits maydamage the unit. To switch morewattage, an electrician can install arelay to handle the load.

• Do not use LOS800 to controlhigh intensity discharge lights, fans, heaters or motors. Smallbathroom exhaust fans may beused with LOS800.

• The LOS800 may be used withboth standard and electronic fluorescent ballasts.

Field of View Adjustment

If the sensor is “seeing” outthrough a doorway into a hallwayor “seeing” undesired areas, simplycover part of the sensor lens withopaque white tape or a paper label.Clear tape may be used, but it limitsdetection only partially. Test that theportion of the lens covered limitsdetection as desired and does notreduce detection in other areas.

Removing the AdjustmentAccess Cover:

This cover is tamperproof and cannot be removed if the switch coverPlate is attached. The cover has two“ears” that hook under the coverplate and prevent tampering. Toremove the cover insert a screw-driver into the latch and pull forward.

Time Delay Adjustment

The time delay adjustment can beset so the lights turn off from 8seconds minimum to 15 minutesmaximum after the room is vacated(approximate).

Walk Test

To test the detection pattern of theLOS800, make no motion for 30seconds. Move sideways up to 12”.The red LED flashes once every 4seconds when turned on initiallyand twice every second to showdetection.

Lights do Not Turn On

1. Check that:• the lamps and fixtures work;• wiring exactly matches the

wiring diagram;• wiring polarity is correct;• power is on;• sensor has warmed up for 3

minutes;• off/auto switch is not OFF

2. Make sure sensor’s view of theroom is not blocked

Lights do Not Turn Off

1. Check that the Time delay controlis set to minimum.

2. Stay completely out of the protec-tion pattern to avoid activation.

3. Make sure sensor is not seeingmovement in an adjacent areathrough a doorway or other opening.

4. Make sure unit is not aimed atsomething that would move or causea temperature change such as hotwater pipes, air conditioners or heating vents.

5. Check that the wattage controlleddoes not exceed the maximum limits.

Lights Go On and Off Quickly

1. Check that wattage controlleddoes not exceed maximum limits.

2. Certain energy saving fluorescentlamps strobe when turned on withina minute of being turned off.

Lights Go On for “No Reason”

1. Look for sources of electricalnoise such as fans or air conditionerson the same circuit or nearby. If possible, unplug or move the noisesources.

2. Check if sensor is “seeing” intoadjacent rooms or hallways. Masksensor lens in that direction withopaque tape.

3. Check if sensor is “seeing”heaters or air conditioning vents.Mask sensor lens if necessary.

4. Make sure unit is at room temper-ature. If it was installed immediatelyafter being in an extremely hot orcold environment, wait an hour for itto adjust.
