• FDM promotes the flexibility to: – customize the functionality
– enhance the interface
– integrate with a variety of products
• The proper combination of the settings is a function of a client’s:– network
– workflow requirements
– interface preferences

• Some settings affect the general behavior of FDM while others are specific to the target application:– Application Settings address FDM’s workflow parameters such as specifying
the target application and how the certification process will function
–Web/User Settings control FDM’s user interface
– Configuration Settings enhance system performance
– Integration Settings determine how FDM will connect and interact with a
target application

The Finit Solutions Series
Getting the Most out of FDM: FDM System Settings
• System Code
– specifies the integration adapter for the target application
• Ignore Map Item– restrains data that should not be loaded to the target application
• Log Map Changes
– records mapping changes to be retrieved from FDM logs and
system reports
• Batch Loader
– enables batch automation, offers ‘lights out’ processing
• Archive Method– determines how data files are stored in FDM’s folder structure
– files are either stored in the Inbox and archive folders or moved to the archives
Application Settings

• Control Lock, Controls without Data, Controls Unsubmit – determines the workflow for the certification process by specifyingif the POV will be locked, if the process can be completed without data and if users have the ability to unsubmit
• Fiscal Start Period– establishes a fiscal start period used in FDM reporting
• Period Key Date Format Mask– determines the date format to be used on period descriptions
and all FDM reports
• Create/Delete Location Directory– specifies how the folder structure will be set up and maintained as locationsare created in FDM

• Information Bar– displays confirmation and error messages and determines how longmessages will be displayed
• Theme– affects the color scheme of the application
• Grid Size– controls the number of rows displayed per page
• Custom Names for FDM Labels– allows an overwrite of the generic label names with more descriptive terms

• Database tuning for SQL and Oracle
– offers various options for enhancing performance based on file
storage, memory usage, etc.
• Allows custom description in period– overrides the default period format (MMM‐YYYY) for a custom
description (e.g. Qtr ‐1, Qtr ‐2)
• File encoding– ASCII or Unicode setting
o ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) serves as the standard coding method but excludes many characters
o Unicode allows data files containing special characters to load properly
( e.g. Ã, £ )

• Application Name
– Exact name of the target application to which FDM will integrate
• Logon Method– Global (all users access the system with the same credentials)
– Unified (individual credentials are used to authenticate)
• Global Logon Information
– Universal username and password

• Dimension Cache Switch
– stores Enterprise dimension members in FDM for quick retrieval
• View
– sets the data view (e.g. Year‐to‐date)
• Zero No Data
– assigns a zero to accounts that have no data, affects the value
displayed per data view

• Use Single Sign On (SSO)
– allows a user to access FDM from HFM via a link that logs the user in with the
same credentials used to access HFM
• Use Sticky Server
– forces FDM to use the same server to perform each step of the data loading
process
• Enable Line Item Detail and Cell Text Loading
– allows additional information to be loaded through FDM along with data
• Enable Journal Loading
– provides multiple options for loading data from FDM as HFM journals
HFM Integration Settings

• Enable Controls Review– offers the option to use additional scripting with the Review step of
the certification process (e.g. to launch an email confirmation)
• Enable Process Management – launches process management after the FDM certification process
is complete
• Accumulate in File
– load option that sums data for the same combination of account and custom
dimensions in a file and loads the total
• Force Calculate– initiates all calculation rules for an entity when data is loaded

• Force Translate
– initiates all currency translation rules for an entity when data is loaded
• Translation Level
– translates base entities to the parent currency
• Data Protection
– protects data entered into HFM by methods other than FDM
– requires the use of a custom dimension in HFM that tracks data by source
• Enable Intersection Validation – generates a report that will alert the data loader of any of invalid
combinations of accounts and custom dimension members (e.g. loading Cash
with an Intercompany partner)
