The Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service is the local outreach arm of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and Kentucky State University College of Agriculture, Communities and the Environment. Our goal is to provide practical, research-based education that helps individuals, families and communities solve problems and improve lives. Extension provides value to communities through educational programs and information in areas like farming, gardening, parenting, budgeting, healthy living, and youth, community, and economic development.
We are interested in better understanding the issues that are important to you in our community. In response, the Kentucky Cooperative Extension System can tailor new and existing programs to address the highest priority issues that directly impact you, your family and your community. You do NOT need to be familiar with Cooperative Extension to complete this survey. The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete and all of your responses will be completely anonymous and confidential.
Woodford County Extension Community Survey
You can access the survey online at http://bit.ly/KYExtension OR
complete a paper copy at the Extension Office. Please complete by October 26. Thank you for supporting this effort!

Career Counseling & Soul Searching A lot of students do not have a career in mind, or they “pick one” while in high school. They may then follow up with what they think might be an appropriate major in college and then they’re done. But other questions that students should ask themselves include: “What do I like?”, and “What am I good at?” According to longtime executive life coach, Laura Berman Fortgang, parents and counselors need to help kids dig even deeper by encouraging them to explore who they are, why they want to go after something, and what it is that drives them. It is also important for kids to learn about and ac-cess career counseling. Counselors can help kids:
Learn more about themselves
Gain equational and occupational information
Learn about decision-making and career planning
Conduct a job search
Identify continuing education or training programs
Cope with career challenges Reference: Fisher, A. (2016). Why High School Career Counseling Steers Kids Off Course. Retrieved from http://fortune.com/2016/04/13/high-school-career-counseling/
