Storytelling session with Ms. Love Añover, undertaken last August 18, 2008. Ms. Añover is the SDC’s new member to the general assembly. Her life story about the values of education has inspired the children. After the session, the children were able to understand the value of perseverance. That means to study hard despite the hardships they are experiencing due to lack of sufficient resources. Dra. Mimi Aragon, wife of Atty. Jun Aragon Jr. an SDC member, was the resource speaker on the topic “Common Diseases” last Aug. 18, 2008. Her discussion was very lively though the session was conducted in the open grounds of Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City. She introduced various strategies to make her presentation more interesting and easy to understand. The children enjoyed the overall conduct. The group session started with a reminder from the Street Educator (SE), Noemi. She emphasized the values of fulfilling a promise, an attitude of a disciplined person. She shared to the children how she felt bad due to poor attendance in spite of the majority’s confirmation to attend the session. Her initial remarks became the point of entry for the topic on “Discipline”. The SE challenges the children to improve their behavior/attitude. And in order to realize towards that direction, the SE imparted Tips and Techniques of improving ones personality. A deepening session on the SDC orientation was conducted. Nine girl children attended the discussion held last August 18, 2008. The objective of the activity is to process and unite the Girl Children’ (GC)oin their awareness on the SDC’s Vision, Mission and Goal. Tutorial sessions were conducted to continuously uplift the academic levels of the GC specifically on English subject. This assistance was provided by Ms. Jal Basi, in blue blouse, the SDC volunteer. FCIP on the go… Series of deepening sessions on the SDC Orientation were conducted and attended by the parents group. The objective of each session is to process the parents’ understanding on their role in the realization of the SDC’s Vision, Mission and Goal. The activities will also guide the parents in their active support for the Family and Community Integration Program (FCIP) of the SDC. Photos below show the last of the 3 sessions conducted with the parents. The session was facilitated by the Executive Director, Ms. Niday Mayor, last August 16, 2008, at the Brgy. Hall of Addition Hills in Mandaluyong. Teambuilding activities were conducted in two sessions. Both sessions were facilitated by Ms. Doris P. Romero, an SDC Board of Trustees. The first session was an outdoor activity held at QC Circle on September 13 while the processing session was held at the SDC office last September 27, 2008. There were many revelations of the hidden potentials of the parents e.g. leader, speaker and creative skills. Another beneficiary group of the FCIP, the Multi Gender Youth (MGY), underwent a series of SDC Orientation in order to deepen their awareness and understanding of their role in supporting the FCIP. The group also availed itself of the SDC’s various activities towards uplifting their potentials as future leaders of the community. Advocacy on the spot… Atty. Battad, SDC’s vice-chair, and Ms. Niday Mayor, the Executive Director were busy discussing about SDC with the bystanders during Ms. Añover’s storytelling session at Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City last Aug. 18, 2008.

Wala mang kwerdas himig nama’y mala-gitara

Sinumang makarinig tiyak mahahalina.
