Of course, the above quick summary of the effect is designed so you can quicklydigest the benefit. That stated, a much more elaborate routine, where-by it iscreatively sequenced with other effects such that one could culminate a morepowerful PUNCH is highly suggested. (aka Okito’s Gobi Bowl Redux)Another in a series of effects by GeorgeLedo paying homage to Okito, TheSacred Tea is an updated version ofTheo Bamberg’s original Gobi Bowl(confetti to water) trick, presented in atraditional Japanese style.

The magician shows a small packagewrapped in a blue furoshiki orwrapping cloth. Upon opening it, wesee a small tansu, or traditionalJapanese chest. The chest is opened

and a ceramic bowl, which is seen to almostfill the box, is removed and shown empty.The magician then reaches in the box andremoves handfuls of loose tea, which arepoured into the bowl, filling it. The bowl isthen placed on the table and a small clothdraped over it. A moment later the cloth isremoved and the bowl is now full of water.

Although the method and handling are similarto Okito’s Gobi Bowl, this version is animprovement on the original in that the bowlstarts out inside the box, which appears to bejust large enough for the bowl and the tea.The chest is 8.5 inch square by 6 inches highand finished in an antique mahogany stainwith metal hardware. Also included are two6 inch bowls, the custom-made furoshiki, thesmall cloth, and the gimmicks, plus illustratedinstructions. You provide the loose tea and abowl to pour the water into at the end.

Magic PendulumThe performer produces either standard cardsor if desired tarot cards and has a spectatorselect one of them which can be signed if sodesired. The cards are cut and returned to (inthis example) a small stack of say 10 cards.
