Book WeekIn celebration of Book Week, we will be holding our annual book parade in the hall at 10 am next Monday 19 August. The preschool will be joining us for the morning as we have a great time showing off our costumes. This year’s theme is ‘Reading is my Secret Power’ and everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and come along to the parade.
Lorin NicholsonGuest Speaker, Lorin Nicholson will be holding a full day event at our school on Wednesday 28 August (Week 6). Lorin is a legally blind man who has achieved a lot in a variety of areas including: becoming an award winning musician, a record breaking cyclist (Perth to Sydney), bestselling author, a health professional, successful businessman and a keynote speaker.
Woodburn Public School will also be hosting Tregeagle P.S. for the event. Lorin will spend the first hour speaking to everyone as he aims to motivate and inspire our students. K-4 will then break into groups for a rotation of planned activities while Lorin works with the combined Yr 5 & 6 classes with a focus on ‘leadership’.
The day will be subsidised by the school so all can attend and there will be an optional $2 sausage sizzle available on the day. More information and an order form will be sent home this week.

Book Week Book Swap
Hi kids, I am Billy the bookworm and I love reading. I have read all my books at home over and over.
I bet you have the same problem. Don’t worry, I have a plan…
For Book Week this year I will be holding a book swap. All you have to do is bring in a gently used book, this means no rips, tears or
missing pages and definitely no writing or scribbles.
Simply bring your book or books to your classroom and place in the special book box from now until Friday 23 August.
On Friday 23 August, you can then swap your books with someone
else’s that you have not read. Do not worry if you do not have one to swap, I am sure we will be able to find one for you to take home.
Please remember to ask Mum, Dad or your Caregiver’s permission before bringing in your books.
