I congratulate the Executive Director and the Faculty of FEN on this remarkable accomplish- ment. At our end in the Jamaat, we realize the signicant role of creat- ing a conducive environment for the Board and the Network to engross itself into creative activities that helps to develop a pow- erful community. The needs of the community are assimilated and parental involvement ensured. It should be realized that we can not work in isolation from either stake holders. With the completion of the ECE (Early Childhood Education) and Teacher Training Centre, soon the foundation of Fatimiyah Sports Centre will be laid which will promote extra curricular activities in the community. If donations for purchasing the ad- jacent plot materialize, the ECD (Early Childhood Development) and a concerted programme of integrated vocational training for women, higher education scholarships, career counseling and skill development programme would be on the board. It is now widely acknowledged that there is a need to invest in hu- man resource through teachers training programmes. A trained and experienced teacher is assumed to be a rare commodity and its worth should be acknowledged as such. The community needs to be strengthened through education and skill development. There is a wide spread need to send our youth to public and private universities for higher education in various disciplines by awarding generous and across the board scholar- ships and educational loans. The recent step in inducting a ca- reer counselor would lead to help in making the right choice by our students in pursuing their career path. At FEN we propose to provide a holistic approach to educate our wards to meet the challenges in future course of their lives. With the fast pace of academic activities at FEN, our ambition to provide education from early days of childhood to graduate level along with auxiliary skills will soon materialize. The support by our donors, well wishers, the faculty and the parents has been overwhelming. We are grateful to them and look forward to an extraordinary relationship. Altaf Hussain Bhojani Hon. When speaking about the greatness of a personality, one needs a gold standard with which to compare the strengths and weakness of the individual. However, if that person is herself the gold standard, then it makes it impossible to adequately describe her greatness. Hazrat Fati-ma Zehra (SA) was such a personali-ty. Her merits are unmatched by any women known in history and Allah (swt) Himself testifi es in the Qur’an about her purity and piety. The great lady, Hazrat Fatima Zehra (SA) was the dear daughter of the Prophet, Muhammad (SW).Imam Jaff er As-Sadiq (AS) said: Fati-ma has nine names near (to) Allah (swt), they are: Fatima, As-Siddiqa (the honest), Al-Mubarakah (the blessed one), at-Tahirah (virtuous), Az-Zaakiyah (the Chaste), Ar-Rad-hiyatul-Mardhiah (who is gratifi ed and shall be satisfi ed), Al-Muhad-dathah (the one to whom angels speak), and Az-Zehra (the slended).

Fatima’s (SA) genius is considered an example of a Muslim woman’s adherence to noble traits. She is a perfect example of how a daughter, a wife, and a mother should act while keeping her decency and pure char-acter. She also shows us the Muslim women’s role in social fi elds within the limits of religion in virtue her confi rms that Islam does not de-prive women of acquiring scientifi c, cultural and literally knowledge. She was the symbol of womanhood. She embodied in her translucent personality all those qualities that made her a paradigm of virtue. The Prophet saluted at her door. The celestial angels sang her praise. Even God Almighty calls her the blessed fountain of Kowsar and vouchsafed her virtue in the Verse of Purity (Holy Quran 33:33)Fatima (SA) had a pivotal place in the family of the Prophet (PBUH) She had the distinction of: being the daughter of the most beloved

Prophet (PBUH) of Allah (SWT); the wife of the 1st Imam who was the purifi ed one, and the only one to bear the title of Ummul Aimma; the mother of two Imams who are leaders of the youth of paradise. She is the one from whose progeny 11 infallible imams came. She herself was purifi ed and infallible, granted divine knowledge bestowed with wisdom, reasoning, intellect and grace. The Tasbih formula that was a gi to her by Allah (SWT) through his Prophet (PBUH), the recitation of which is a source of forgiveness, mercy, and reward for her followers. Allah has promised her the privilege of Intercessions on the Day of Judge-ment, on behalf of those who love her, send salutations on her, and ad-here to the teachings of the fourteen Infallibles. No woman comes to her exalted status. May we be among these who earn the intercession of Hazrat Fatima (SA). Aameen.

Role Model: BIBI Fatima Zehra (AS)

God has sent twelve Imams for the guidance of mankind. Bibi Fatima-tuz-Zehra (SA), the only daughter of our Holy Prophet (SAWW) is a role model for all women. She had no teacher to teach her. All she learnt was from her Father. She was the mother of eleven Imams. As a daughter she had no match. At the age of 5, all the responsibilities fell on her. She looked a er her father and the house. As a mother she looked af-ter her children well and both her sons sacrifi ced their lives for the sake of Islam. She is the perfect model for the women of the world. We should follow her path to live a success-ful life.

Fatima (AS) was born in the fi h year of Muhammad’s (SAWW) Prophethood. Her father was the Holy Prophet (SAWW) and her mother was Khadij a (Khadij a was the fi rst women to become Muslim, and she truly believed in God and his Prophet. She was loyal and rich and had spend all her wealth for the progress of Is-lam). The Holy Prophet Muham-mad (SAWW) loved his daughter Fatima very much and used say about her “Fatima is part of my body. Whoever troubles her trou-bles me, and whoever makes her happy makes me happy”.At the beginning of her youth, Fatima (SA) married Hazrat Ali (AS). She was the ideal women of Islam and excelled all women in worship, manners and morals. For her husband she was the best wife and for her children was the best mother.Hazrat Ali (AS) used to say, “By God I never did anything in all my life which made Fatima un-happy or angry, and Fatima too never did anything which made me unhappy or angry.

The descendants of the Proph-ets are from the children of Holy Fatima. Our eleven Holy Imams are descendants of the Lady Fati-ma (SA).Bibi Fatima Zehra (SA) loved her children very much. She cultured them with Islamic morals, man-ners and etique es.

Muslims regard Fatima Zeh-ra (daughter of Holy Prophet P.B.U.H) as the greatest woman that has ever lived. The leader of all women in paradise and a para-gon of female virtue. She was the fi rst wife of Hazrat Ali (AS) our fi rst Imam. The mother of second and third Imams, and the ancestor of all the succeeding Imam. Muslims call her Zahra which means The Lady of Light. She was a loving and devoted daughter, mother and wife, a true Muslim and an example for Mus-lim women.

EditorialThis issue of Focus Fatimiyah is dedi-cated to the Wiladat of Bibi Fatima Zehra (AS).The personality of the great daughter of the holy Prophet (PBUH) needs no introduction. Her wisdom and knowledge, piety, generosity and be-nevolence, hospitality, forbearance and patience, self sacrifi ce, will power and determination serves as beacon for all the generations to come. The students especially girls can take a lesson from her life to fulfi ll their role and responsibilities as daughters, wives and mothers. As the daugh-ter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) she holds the exalted position of being a leader of Muslim women. As a leader she was strong, focused and deter-mined to strive for excellence. Her response to the challenges she faced during her short life indicates that Islam encourages and exhorts Muslim men and women to struggle for their rights, to endeavor to acquire knowledge, education and participate in cultural and literary activities to strengthen the intellectual and spiri-tual fabric of Muslim society. To pay homage to the great lady Bibi Fatima (SA), we requested our stu-dents and teachers to contribute their tributes for the special issue. We ap-preciate the overwhelming response received from the students and teach-ers.The other highlight of the issue is the Academic Conference on “School Im-provement through Leadership” and the annual examination 2006-07 re-sults. We hope you will enjoy reading this issue.

Bibi Fatima (SA) as a Role Model

By:S. Umm-e-Aymon Haider Raza Naqvi (VII-B FGS)

In my view, Bibi Fatima (AS) is the greatest personality of the world, it may be daughter, mother or as a wife, she is the one who teaches all the women of the world that how life should be spent. Her father stood up in respect when she came. When people of Makkah misbehaved with Haz-rat (SAWW) she was the only one who took care of her father. As a wife, she was so co-opera-tive with her husband that she also lived happy in starvation and didn’t complain about it. In fact, she didn’t wish anything in her life from her husband Hazrat Ali (AS).As a mother, her nurturing and upbringing of her children was an example for society. If today’s generation would adopt Bibi Fatima (SA) as a role model they wouldn’t face diffi culties in their lives.

Bibi Fatima (SA) belongs to the noblest family. Her father was the last messenger of Allah, a person-ality that the Holy Quran intro-duces him as ‘Oswatun Hasanah’ (the Best Paradigm). The mother of Bibi Fatima (SA) was a pure lady named Khadij a, a godly woman with unparalleled virtues and merits, who dedicated all her wealth for the sake of promotion of Islam. Bibi Fatima (SA) was the only daughter of Prophet Hazrat Mu-hammad (SAWW) and Bibi Khad-ij a, she was the wife of Hazrat Ali (AS) and mother of Hazrat Imam Hassan (AS), Hazrat Imam Hus-sain (AS), Bibi Zainab and Bibi Umm-e-Kulsoom. She was born on 20th of Jamaad-us-Sani on Friday in Makkah Mukarrama. She was very intelligent and pos-sessed the excellent virtues. Bibi Fatima (AS) led a simple life. She performed all the domestic chores with her own hands for instance grinding the wheat with millstone, baking bread, looking a er children etc. But she leav-

ing a side every thing would only think about God.Bibi Fatima (SA) was a tree, which grew in the shade of revelation of God bringing forth fruits of freedom and justice in its deep shadow. In Islam a person’s value depends on virtues and whoever has the exalted human virtues he or she will be a valuable member of the society. In applying this rule there is no diff erence between man and woman. We hope that this historical re-minder will awaken our fellow Muslims, so that they put the nec-essary eff orts into the upbring-ing of their children and thus elevate the social and spiritual position of men and women. We also hope that all of us, making use of lo y teaching of Islam and following the conduct of the dis-tinguished role models which Islam has introduced to us, take action to correct our perceptions, our view points and our practices in line with God’s command-ments.

Teachers’ Development – Need of the DayTeachers are the backbone of any educa-tional institution and the management always wants and invests on professional development of their teachers. Fatimiyah Education Network has always strived for excellence and has given priority to Pro-fessional Development of its faculty. The recent establishment of Fatimiyah Teach-ers Training Centre is a good example of our commitment towards this cause. At FEN there is a two fold strategy for professional development of teachers. One of these is to provide in-house pro-fessional development support to the fac-ulty. The in house support is provided by our qualifi ed and experienced Profession-al Development Teachers. The other focal point of intervention is to have teachers training courses for the novice teachers so as to make them good classroom practi-tioners. This objective is achieved through our two very popular courses i.e. Pre Ser-

vice Teachers Training Program and Early Childhood Development- Theory and Practice. Uptil now more than 200 teach-ers have been trained and more than 50 % of them are teaching in schools. The core objective of both the Teachers Training Programs was to make the com-munity realize the importance of teaching as a noble profession as well as the im-portance of professional development for teaching. Alhamdolillah these programs have made a positive impact. The courses were designed in a professional manner and the course facilitators were renowned educationists. The courses were coordi-nated by Mr. Mohsin Tejani CEO of Te-jani Educational Consultants. Some of the prominent course facilitators were Prof Zakia Sarwar, Dr Shahida Mohiuddin, Ms Saulat Majid, Ms Huma Thaver, Ms Re-hana Lokhandwala, Mr. Zahid, Mr. Saeed Nasim, Mr. Tahir and others.

Successful candidates of the Pre Service Teachers Training Program and Early Childhood Education Theory and Practice course were given certifi cates in the Aca-demic Conference of Fatimiyah Education Network. Certifi cates were distributed by Dr. Muhammad Memon, Director Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development, Prof. Zakia Sarwar Found-er Member Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers, Prof. Abbas Hussain Director Teachers Development Centre, Sr. Margare e Madden Director Notre Dame Institute of Education, Mrs. Farah Kamal Country Coordinator Internation-al Education and Resource Network, Mr. Aziz Kabani Deputy Director Sindh Edu-cation Foundation Mr Dilawar Shaban of Humanity Welfare Trust and Mr. Nisar Virani President KPSIAJ .

Highlighting the qualities of Bibi Fatima Zehra (SA) is not an easy task for a li le person like me on the auspicious occasion of the wiladat of Khatoon-e-Jannat, Sye-dat-ul-Nisa Alameen; Bibi Fatima, the daughter of Sardar-e-Ambia (SAW). She possesed such God-gi ed qualities since her birth, that cannot be matched by any women in the world. Her family speaks a lot about her superior-ity. Her father is Syed-ul-Ambia, mother is Malikat-ul-Arab, sons are Sardar-e-Janaat of all the youth and husband is Tajdare-e-Imamat and Wilayat. The Great Lady of the universe was born on 20th Jammad-us-Sani in Mecca a er fi ve years of Baasat. of nature from her illustrious fa-ther (SAW) both in words and deeds. Hazrat Fatima (S.A) is a female created by Allah to be a sign of His marvelous and unprecedented might. For, the Almighty Lord cre-ated Muhammad (SAW) as a sign of His might among Prophets(AS); and created from him his daugh-ter Hazrat Fatima Zahra (SA) to be a sign of His ability to create a female possessing all moral excel-lence and talents. In fact, Allah Al-mighty bestowed Hazrat Fatima (SA) with a vast share of majesty, which no other woman can ever claim to have reached. She is one of the prominent people close to Allah, whose greatness was acknowledged by Heaven before the creation of mankind; and in whose regard verses from the Qur’an, that are and will be read day and night until the Day of Resurrection, were revealed. Hazrat Fatima (SA) inherited the genius and wisdom, the determi-nation and will power, the piety and sanctity, the generosity and benevolence, the devotion and worship of Allah, the self-sacri-fi ce and hospitality, forbearance and patience and the knowledge and nobility of disposition of her illustrious father, both in words

and deeds. “I o en witnessed my mother” says Imam Hussain (SA) “absorbed in prayer from dusk to dawn”. Her generosity and com-passion for poor was such that no destitute or beggar ever returned from her door una ended.Hazrat Fatima Zahra’s (SA) life speaks of many events from which many morals can be learned, through which one can familiar-ize oneself with the true believers’ lifestyle and the viewpoint.“I have not seen a person more similar to the Prophet’s (SAW) ap-pearance, conduct, guidance and speech whether si ing or stand-ing than Fatima (SA). When she enters, the Messenger of Allah stands up, kisses and welcomes her, then takes her hand and asks her to sit in his place”.Among the Islamic teaching to which Fatima (SA) gave special at-tention, was protecting women’s honor and beauty through observ-ing the Islamic way of dressing. Fatima (SA) realized that crimes, social disasters and humiliations were mainly due to unveiling, de-basement, dissoluteness and mix-ing of the sexes.
