Everyone could use a new toiletry bag, and thanks to the ScanNCut, they are super easy to make! The ScanNCut machine allows you to create perfect box bags by using helpful patterns and making straight cuts. Check out how I created these great toiletry bags using fabric that was cut with my ScanNCut machine, a zipper and some thread.

Father’s Day Toiletry Bag

MATERIALS: Brother ScanNCut machine; multipurpose cloth/leather or other

fabric; zipper; standard ScanNCut mat; fabric support sheet;

ScanNCut fabric pen and pen holder; standard blade; and sewing

machine and accessories

Prep fabric as needed. Test your fabric with and without the fabric support

sheet, as well as your blade depth and pressure.

Note: It may help to cut the fabric about 1/2" larger than your final shape.

step 2. Save the patterns for the box bag to a USB stick. Then, select the pattern

from the USB memory on your ScanNCut.

Note: Background scan to ensure your material placement.

Using your fabric pen, select “Draw” from the final menu. Make sure to format the

file to differentiate between the lines to draw and the lines to cut out.

After you’ve marked your steps and seam allowances, cut your fabric according to

your tested settings.

After you’ve cut out two pieces, gather your zipper and thread your sewing

machine to begin sewing your box toiletry bag together.

Note: Always be sure you are sewing right sides together.

Now add embellishments to your box bag. You can scan in and cut out vinyl to

iron onto your bag.

Following the steps that are marked on the pattern pieces, sew the bottoms

(marked with a “2”) together. Use the 1/4" seam allowance, sewing right sides

together.

Note: If you wish to top stitch the following seams, it will help to keep the shape of your bag a bit more.

Now, move onto the section that is marked “3” on the pattern pieces. Be sure to

open the zipper first, as you’ll need to be able to turn your box bag right side out.

Line up the edges and seam allowances and sew them together.

Note: If you are sewing the Standard Box Bag, the sides for section “3” will fit together a bit more easily than for the ‘Even Better’ Box Bag.

step 9. Move onto section “4” (marked on the pattern pieces). Repeat this seam around all

four corners of the box bag.
