DEFINITIONS & DISCLAIMERS

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS A formal award certifying the satisfactory completion of a postsecondary education program & is essentially the process of publicly attesting that a specified quality or standard has been achieved or exceeded (AMTA Definition).

PROGRAMS ON DEMAND EVIT Adult Ed. offers short term, on demand training programs to meet business, industry and community training needs. Course offerings are based on student request and student enrollment. Students are welcome to submit their requests to the EVIT Adult Ed. Admissions Department 480-461-4110.

BLENDED PROGRAMS EVIT high school programs offer a limited number of seats for adults who want a daytime/2.5 hour schedule. Adults over the age of 22 enrolling in a high school program will need a DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to starting class. Contact an enrollment adviser at 480-461-4110 for detailed information. Blended Programs do not qualify for Government Financial Aid and only offer a Certificate of Training.

Licensure A non-voluntary process by which an agency of government regulates a profession. It grants permission to an individual to engage in an occupation if it finds that the applicant has attained the degree of competency required to ensure the public health, safety, and welfare will be reasonably protected.

Licensure Disclaimer EVIT Adult Education courses and programs prepare students for entry into a variety of professions. Many of these professions require that a person hold an occupational license or certificate in order to work in a particular field. Typically, a person must meet certain legal requirements before obtaining such a license or certificate. These requirements are established by county, state or federal agencies and often are based on a person’s character, or whether the person has been convicted of a criminal offense. It is possible for a student who has obtained a certificate from EVIT to be denied the right to work in a particular profession after completing the certificate because of concerns over the student’s character or criminal background. Any student preparing to enter a field for which a professional license or certificate is required is strongly advised to consult with the appropriate government agency that issues such credentials. That agency can provide the student complete information about any requirements the law imposes for working in a particular occupation.

Student Insurance It is important students recognize EVIT does not have insurance to cover injuries students may sustain while in class related activities not conducted on EVIT property. AESTHETICS CS14

Specialize in the science of skin care and develop a thorough understanding of all aspects of the industry basics including waxing, makeup techniques, facials and general knowledge of the spa industry. Learn techniques for skin analysis, deep pore cleansing, exfoliation and specialized treatments including dermaplaning, peels and body treatments. COLLISION REPAIR AB10

Includes fundamental hands on training in collision repair shop operations, materials handling and safety practices. Students will be introduced to basic operations in many areas of the collision repair industry with a focus on entry-level position skills. Students will gain basic understanding of safety practices, tool and equipment usage, maintenance, basic repair process and procedures, damage assessment, metal repair, structural re-alignment, welding techniques, paint preparation, painting and detailing. Students will also experience structural and plastic repair techniques. In addition, students will gain knowledge of the mechanical and electrical components of late model automobiles and experience a well-balanced mix of classroom lecture, lab and shop activities for hands-on, real life practice.

COSMETOLOGY CS10

If you crave a career with flexible schedules, the opportunity to be creative, and the ability to control your income limits, then invest in an exciting and rewarding career in Cosmetology. Job growth in cosmetology is expected to rise at a rate of 13% between 2012 and 2022 (BLS, 2015). Cosmetology students learn the foundation of haircutting, color, texture, hairstyling, skin care and nail care. Students will progress to advanced techniques that are relevant while learning in both a classroom setting and in the student salon. The Student Salon is open to the public providing real time opportunities to practice technical skills in hair and nails. Students will also interface with industry experts, participating in trade shows, events and workshops. The successful completion of the 1600 hour Cosmetology program, will prepare students to take the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology Examination.

CONSTRUCTION FRAMING & DRYWALL CT20

Drywall applicators often install walls, T-Grid ceilings, as well as place insulation, soundproofing, and fire-stopping materials behind and onto those walls and ceilings. They may also apply textures and trims to enhance both the interiors and exteriors of the buildings. The two-level curriculum for Drywall covers Thermal and Moisture Protection, Steel Stud Framing, and Acoustical Ceilings.

ELECTRICAL POWER TESTING TECHNICIAN EPT10

An Electrical Power Testing Technician (EPTT) performs tests and inspections and evaluates the suitability of electrical power

equipment and systems for intended use. Electrical equipment includes, but is not limited to, low and medium voltage circuit

breakers: molded case, air operated, vacuum and FS6 Gas Filled; shielded and unshielded power cables; dry-type and liquid

filled power transformers; distribution substation metering and protective equipment. Inherent in the determination of the

serviceability of electrical equipment is the prerequisite that technicians performing these tests be capable of conducting the

tests in a safe manner and with complete knowledge of the hazards involved. The technician must also evaluate the test data

and make an assessment on the continued serviceability or non-serviceability of the specific equipment. Testing technicians

enjoy a solid career path which provides for advancement opportunities and competitive salary base with ample overtime

opportunities. Graduates go on to work for various industry power testing companies, federal-state-municipal agencies or

major utilities and have opportunity to travel throughout the United States for work assignments. Successful testing

technicians have a solid background in math and electrical theory, and are very detailed orientated. The EPTT training

program prepares the successful graduate to sit for the International Electrical Testing Association Level II Electrical Testing

Technician exam after obtaining the required industry work experience.

The Plumbing Service and Repair Technician Program is a comprehensive program designed to train students to become a qualified technician in plumbing service, repair and plumbing installation. The program offers a learning environment combining many distinct, but interconnected areas in the plumbing field including: plumbing theory, hands-on assessments, construction trades safety, residential water quality, green technologies, sales and marketing strategies, professionalism, problem solving, customer service and communication skills, and job readiness strategies. HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) AC10

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that HVAC Technician jobs will grow over 20% in the next 10 years, almost twice the average for all careers. Students in this program are provided training in electrical maintenance, residential, commercial and industrial wiring, appliance repair, installation of light and power equipment and repair of electronic controls and circuits. Air conditioning students learn the skills required to install service and repair air conditioning, refrigeration and heating equipment. The program prepares students for the Arizona State Examination for refrigerant licensing, which is required to become a certified HVAC Technician. In addition, students will be eligible to sit for the NATE Certification Exam post completion of the program.

PRACTICAL NURSE (PN) PN10

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under the direct supervision of a physician or registered nurse and form an integral part of the health care team. Professional duties of the LPN include: client assessments; medication administration; providing therapeutic, diagnostic, nutritional and wound care support; collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team; contributing to the client plan of care; and providing client and family healthcare education. This program includes a comprehensive course of study that combines theory with clinical practice. The curriculum is designed to provide qualified individuals an opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to become safe and competent practical nurses. Qualified Solar Maintenance and Installation Technicians are in high demand to meet the needs of the solar industry. Technicians configure, install, inspect and maintain photovoltaic solar panels and associated equipment. This program will address Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant design, operation and maintenance activities. In addition, the program will fully prepare the student to gain the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the field. Sterilization technicians are allied health professionals responsible for decontamination, inspection, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments and surgical supply. Sterile processing technicians work under close supervision of the operating room team in providing fully functional, sterilized and ready-to-use surgical equipment. They work closely with any other department in the health-care facility where there is a need for sterilized items that are used on a patient. In today’s world of health care, a Sterile Processing Department must be filled with highly trained and skilled professionals who are familiar with all aspects of the job, surgical procedures and infection control procedures and practices. WELDING WD10

Arizona’s newest International Accredited Test Facility is offering welding certifications through the American Welding Society (AWS) on site. Students will learn basic skills in the SMAW, GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG) and OFC processes. During this course students will weld in all positions and practice for AWS certifications. Using NCCER and AWS Sense curriculum students complete modules in each welding process and will perform Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) in accordance with AWS standards. When students pass WPQ’s they will receive an internationally recognized AWS certification. Other program modules include: Shop safety, print reading, welding symbols, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), theory and fabrication. Graduates can work in a variety of welding industries such as; Mining, Ornamental iron, Structural steel, Shipbuilding, Pipe welding, Aerospace, Weld inspection and Sales. The Assisted Living Caregiver Program is designed to certify individuals who are certified as a nurse assistant under A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 15 and in good standing at the time of admission to the training program. Students are exempt from the skill training portion of the program. EMT REFRESHER MC55B

Every practicing EMT must renew his or her certification every two years. Our refresher course includes classroom instruction combined with hands-on skills instruction to keep you up to date on state-of-the-art patient care and the latest protocols. This course meets the requirements of the Arizona Department of Health Services and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians requirements for refresher training and CEUs.
