The University of Bahrain was established in
1986 in accordance of an Amiri decree no 12 for
year 1986 followed by some modifications in
accordance to an Amiri decree 18 for year 1999.
The University started with 4 Colleges and
about 20 BSc programs and 2 deanships.
Currently UoB has 10 colleges, 4 Deanship and
21 Center's and offer 82 Academic Programs of
all levels (BSc, MSc and PhD).
UoB had signed about 60 MoU’s with
International Universities and Institutes.

Number of R&T Assistant in Scholarship
RTA are send to USA, UK, Germany, Australia ,France and Arab Universities In 2015 we have only 61 in Scholarship for PhD (52 :34 Female , 7 Male) ) and M Sc (9: 7 Female , 2 Male) .
This year only 7 were sent for Postgraduate Degree : PhD (5) and MSc (2). About 20 are in waiting List

Learning Resource: Five libraries; Central library (comprehensive with a separate law collection) at
Sakhir Campus; Shaikhan Al Farsi library for Health and Medical Sciences at
Salmaniya Health Complex in Manama; College of Science and Information
Technology Library at Sakhir ; Bahrain Teachers College Library at Sakhir; and
College of Engineering Library at Isa Town campus.
Facilities: 1286 study seats, 214 computer stations with Internet access. All UoB
libraries are linked electronically through the Symphony Sirsi catalogue which can be
accessed remotely by students and faculty.
300,000 printed books.
Access to a digital library that includes over 27,000 mostly full-text electronic
journals; 150,000 current electronic books and 1.5 million electronic theses and
dissertations. The Digital Library is powered by the EBSCO Acknowledge Discovery
System.
