The University of Bahrain was established in

1986 in accordance of an Amiri decree no 12 for

year 1986 followed by some modifications in

accordance to an Amiri decree 18 for year 1999.

The University started with 4 Colleges and

about 20 BSc programs and 2 deanships.

Currently UoB has 10 colleges, 4 Deanship and

21 Center's and offer 82 Academic Programs of

all levels (BSc, MSc and PhD).

UoB had signed about 60 MoU’s with

International Universities and Institutes.

Number of R&T Assistant in Scholarship

RTA are send to USA, UK, Germany, Australia ,France and Arab Universities In 2015 we have only 61 in Scholarship for PhD (52 :34 Female , 7 Male) ) and M Sc (9: 7 Female , 2 Male) .

This year only 7 were sent for Postgraduate Degree : PhD (5) and MSc (2). About 20 are in waiting List


Learning Resource: Five libraries; Central library (comprehensive with a separate law collection) at

Sakhir Campus; Shaikhan Al Farsi library for Health and Medical Sciences at

Salmaniya Health Complex in Manama; College of Science and Information

Technology Library at Sakhir ; Bahrain Teachers College Library at Sakhir; and

College of Engineering Library at Isa Town campus.

Facilities: 1286 study seats, 214 computer stations with Internet access. All UoB

libraries are linked electronically through the Symphony Sirsi catalogue which can be

accessed remotely by students and faculty.

300,000 printed books.

Access to a digital library that includes over 27,000 mostly full-text electronic

journals; 150,000 current electronic books and 1.5 million electronic theses and

dissertations. The Digital Library is powered by the EBSCO Acknowledge Discovery

System.

M.Sc., MA, MBA and PhD Thesis:Up to 2016: M.Sc./MA/MBA 764 thesis were produced; Education - 280 (37%), Arts- 230 (30 %), MBA –114 (15.0%), Science - 63(8.0%), Engineering - 20 (3.0 %), Law - 33 (4.0%), IT 15 (2 .0 %).Up to 2016: PhD 13 thesis were produced:6 Sports Management College of Education (currently thecollege of Physical Education and Physiotherapy) and 3 College of Engineering (2 Electrical, 1 Mechanical)and 4 College of Law.

Postgraduate Students: 1st Semester 2016/2017: 757students [ PhD 51,MSc 554, High Diploma 154]

with Bahraini 92% and International 8%: Arts - 173 (23%), Law - 139 (18%), Business Administration - 85(11%), Engineering – 75 (10%), Physical Education and Physiotherapy - 40 (5%), Science - 57 (7%),Information Technology – 46 (6%) Bahrain Teachers College 152 (20%). PGs are 1.8% out of total students.

Admissions: Approximately 6,000 annually; September - 80%; February- 20%.

Registration Fees:BA/B.Sc.: Each credit hour for Bahrainis is USD 20 for BA/B.Sc. (Total USD 2,620 per BA/B.Sc. program) andUSD 40 per credit hour for non-Bahrainis (Total USD5,040 per BA/B.Sc. program).MA/M.Sc.: Each credit hour costs USD 220 (BD140). Total 33 -36 credits hours.PhD: Each credit hour costs USD 420 (BD 160). Total 54 -60 credits hours.

Accredited Programmes: B.Sc. in Chemistry accredited for the period 2009 – 2015 by The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC).

B.Sc. in Chemical, Civil, Electronics and Electrical, Mechanical Eng., and Process Instrumentation and Control are re-accredited for the period 2014 -

2020 by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Systems are accredited for the period December 2010- September 2017 by The

Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

B.Sc. programs in college of IT at UoB are reviewed by The Directorate of Higher Education Reviews (DHR) of the Quality Assurance Authority

for Education and Training (QAAET) in 2013, thus concluded confidence in the B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information

Systems offered by the University of Bahrain.

B.Sc. programs in college of Business at UoB are reviewed by The Directorate of Higher Education Reviews (DHR) of the Quality Assurance

Authority for Education and Training (QAAET) in (2014), thus concluded confidence in the Bachelor of Science in Business Management program,

Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance and Bachelor of Science in Accounting offered by the University of

Bahrain.

MBA Program Review receiving confidence by the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training (QAAET) in October 2011 and in

December 2014.

B.Sc. in Law at UoB's review process was conducted by The Directorate of Higher Education Reviews (DHR) of the Quality Assurance Authority

for Education and Training (QAAET) in May 2010, thus concluded confidence in the Bachelor of Law program offered by the University of Bahrain.

B.Sc. in Law at UoB's review process was conducted by The American Bar Association (ABA) in 2014.

B.Sc in Law, Master in private Law and Master in Public Law at UoB are reviewed by The Directorate of Higher Education Reviews (DHR) of the

Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training (QAAET) in 2015.

B.Sc. in Architecture Program accredited for the period 2015 – 2023 by The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), USA.

B.Sc. in Interior Design is in the process to obtain the accreditation by The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

University of Bahrain been institutionally listed on National Qualification Framework (NQF) by National Authority for Qualifications and Quality

Assurance of Education & Training (NAQQAET).

College of Business is in the final stages to obtain the accreditation for all Programs by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business

(AACSB International).

Bahrain Teachers College (BTC) is in the process to obtain the accreditation by The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Bahrain Teachers College (BTC) at UoB's review process was conducted by The National Institute of Education (NIE) in 2012.

B.Sc. in Biology is in the process to obtain the accreditation by ASIIN association.

B.Sc. in Mathematics is in the process to obtain the accreditation by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).


Total number of courses at UoB is about 2,000.

In 1st Semester 1,512 courses and 4,079 sections were offered.

In 2nd semester 1,428 courses and 3,833 sections are offered.
