Certification The programme builds on at least three years of university studies and has a strong applied management and technology focus. The week includes contact hours, self-study time, lab work and on-site company workshops for a total of 40 academic hours (3 ECTS) for the full programme, and 24 hours for the short programme (2 ECTS). Additional academic work will be required from Master students and PhD researchers. Upon successful completion of the programme, including a final exam, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, featuring the ECTS credits earned. A Certificate of Attendance can be delivered if the participant is not interested in earning ECTS. In this case the certification work is not mandatory.

Venue and Facilities The Fashion & Luxury Summer School is held at the Lugano campus of SUPSI - University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, in a modern, safe and welcoming environment. A coffee shop and canteen are available on the premises. Dowtown lakeside attractions are easily reached from campus by public transportation. Free wireless internet access is provided for all participants.

About UsThe Fashion & Luxury Summer School is an inter-national programme run by two Swiss universities of Applied Sciences: SUPSI and FHNW-School of Business. The Fashion & Luxury Summer School partners with leading fashion and luxury companies located in the region of southern Switzerland (Ticino) and neighbouring Italy. It is endorsed by the a number of associations, including: TicinoModa, the official fashion industry association for Canton Ticino, and the local Chamber of Commerce (CC-Ti); Fondazi-one AGIRE, a public-private foundation fostering innovation and entrepreneurship; NetComm Suisse, the Swiss e-Commerce association; Verein Netzwerk Logistik Schweiz (VNL), the Swiss associ-ation for innovation in enterprise logistics; and the association SUPSI Alumni.

SUPSI and FHNW are accredited by the Swiss Federal GovernmentSUPSI and FHNW offer degree programmes at Bachelors and Masters level as well as continuing education programmes characterized by an applied educational approach, which unites classical theoretical-scientific instruction with a professional orientation. Both Universities invest heavily in applied research for key industry sectors, working on projects competitively acquired from large European and national agencies or mandated by organizations and institutions.

At a glanceThe Fashion & Luxury Summer School takes place in Lugano, Switzerland, and is an intensive, hands-on continuing education programme based on cutting-edge university research and best practices from leading fashion and luxury brands. Programme The Fashion & Luxury Summer School offers studies in Business Management and Innovative Technologies for the fashion and luxury industry, with a focus on current industry topics. The 2015 Summer School modular offering includes a three-day intensive programme for professionals and an optional two-day introductory session (mandato-ry for students). The programme also includes one or more company visits and a conference covering theoretical aspects and industrial practical imple-mentations, followed by a networking event.

Target AudienceThe Fashion & Luxury Summer School integrates multidisciplinary knowledge and competences, thus addressing a broad range of needs. Nonetheless, it is particularly suited for Business, Management and Engineering Master and PhD students as well as young professionals operating in various company functions, such as: Marketing, Procurement, Production and Supply Chain Management, Quality and Sustainability Assurance, Product and Process Design.

Tuition feesMSc/PhD students: CHF 1’350 (CHF 950 special rate for partner universities)Professionals: CHF 2’250 including lunches (CHF 3’000 for the full 5-day programme)

Included in the fees: course tuition and company visit/s, networking apéritif. Not included in the fee: housing, transport (except for company visits), health insurance, visa costs, breakfasts and dinners, additional individual sightseeing trips and personal expenses.

SUPSI Alumni benefit from a 10% discount on the professionals’ fee. A limited number of partial scholarships is available.

Location The Fashion & Luxury Summer School is situated in a region known as Switzerland’s Fashion Valley, chosen by numerous international fashion and luxury brands for their headquarters and logistic operations. It is strategically positioned close to Como, Italy’s silk and textiles manufacturing centre, and to Milan, the fashion design capital of Italy. It is also a tourist destination of choice for vacationers from all over the world (www.ticino.ch).

Topic: Sustainability The fashion and luxury sector is increasingly confronted with the need to systemically address sustainability issues at each phase of the fashion and luxury product life cycle and value chain. This poses specific environmental, social, economic as well as peculiar aesthetic challenges; it also offers great opportunities for value creation. The Fashion & Luxury Sustainability Summer School programme aims at delivering an understanding of these topics and of the theories, methods, innovative technologies and managerial approaches supporting the industry in developing strategies for a viable, ethical future.
