Kinder 2015 Orientat ion begins...Session 2

Session 2 is on Thursday 30th October this week and we are looking forward to welcoming back 2015 Kinder students. We will be looking at reading in the Kinder years and playing some reading games.

Gymsport…!

We still have about 10 children who have not yet signed up for Gym Sport. All children are expected to participate in this activity, they will be assessed and reported on in the end of year report. There is cost of $4 per student per week. A total of $40 per student, please see the school if this is an issue, we can help!. Once again notes can be downloaded from the website or viewed on the App and email a response. Please ensure you get your payments in as soon as possible.

Enrolments...2015

We are starting to look ahead to our school organisation and class numbers for 2015. If you know anyone who is yet to enrol their child for Kinder please encourage them to do so as soon as possible to ensure they are able to attend our Kinder Orientation Sessions. Also, if you are moving out of the area and changing schools please send a message through to the office. This will enable us to determine class sizes and staffing to ensure a smooth start to 2015.

Postponed…A night with the stars!...Friday 14th November

Friday 14th November! If you have not already got your tickets please call into the school and buy them. They will be on sale at the gate but you don’t want to miss out so get in early. There will be a BBQ operating and some games to keep students busy while we wait for the sun to go down.

Tuesday 4th November! A new permission note will be posted this week for this event. Once again notes can be downloaded from the website or viewed and cut on the App and then pasted onto email and sent back to the school email.

Visiting Author... David Legge

We have the great pleasure of inviting all the students to spend some time with David on Monday 3rd November. There is no cost to students for this event but we will definitely be reading some of his books and getting him to sign the school copies. One of his books that I particularly like is ‘Bamboozled’. This book is in our library to borrow if you would like a fun read.

!Stage 2 State Finals of the Multicultural Perspectives P u b l i c S p e a k i n g Competition…

At Farmborough Road Public School we place great value in public speaking. In order to provide opportunities for all students who are developing these skills I am taking an interested group of students to the Stage 2 State Finals of the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition. !These finals are an excellent opportunity for students to observe some of the state’s best young public speakers in action. The final will see the remaining 12 speakers in their age division compete for the title of 2014 champion. !We will be attending the Years 3 & 4 Final on Friday 31 October 2014 a t the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre, Surry Hills. !F u r t h e r d e t a i l s , i n c l u d i n g permission note and student names can be found on the school website and app. !Ms Martin !!!

Canteen News !The Canteen is selling ‘Happy Halloween Hampers’ this Friday for only $4. This spooky bag includes some frightful sweets, creepy cupcakes, petr ifying popcorn and even an eerie ice cream spider drink! Pre-order at the office or canteen to guarantee your bag. Remaining bags will be sold at the Canteen with lunch orders and at Lunch 1. !Year Six Farewell… !The Year Six Farewell will be held on Monday 15th December. The farewell will be held at school with a dinner and disco for our Year Six students. Some parents have already offered to assist with the Year Six Farewell. I would like to hold a quick meeting on Thursday this week to discuss some details of the farewell.
