Official grouund breaking ceremonies took place last Friday nt the factory site, attended by McGill's President Charles McGill, other company officers, and repre- sentatives of local government and service organizations. Plans call for the completion of the 300 x 220-foot building facing on new State Road 17 with entry from Mill Street, by next June 1. The new building will be of steel construction above a five-foot base of cememt blocks. Fronting the main building will be a 40 x 150- foot office. Twenty acres of the 5 5-acre site will be devoted initially to the new plant of 72,000 square feet, including 6,000 square feet of of- fice space. At the ground breaking cere- mony, Charles McGill turned the first shovel of dirt which signalled the start of the plant's construc- tion. Other McGill officials who took part were James C. McGill, son of the president who Is com- pany secretary; A. B. Williamson, pound; And giant halves for toasting or extra fancy prepara- tions, at $1.75 per pound. Council of Churches To Meet November 12 The Culver-Union Township Council of Churches will meet at the Hibbard E.U.B. Church Fri- day, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. vice president and Bearing Divi- sion general manager; H. R. War- ner, treasurer; D. C. Representing the community were Roy Nicodemus, president of Culver Jaycees; Wi'.ber Taylor, president of the Chamber of Com- merce; Al Poppe, president of the Lions Club, and Edgar Shaw, of_ the Culver Town Board. Tonn and Blank, Inc., of Michi- gan City, is the general contractor with electrical work to be done by Koontz-Wagner Inc., South Bend. Plans call for construction to be completed by J u n e 1, with the in- stallation of the latest in new machinery to be installed and op- erating by fall of 1966. New equipment cost in addition to the machinery to bo moved from Val- paraiso will exceed $1,250,000, ac- cording to Williamson. McGill will begin manufactur- ing CAMROL Cam Follower bear- ings at the Culver plant with 25 to 30 people and plan to increase this to as many as 60 production workers the first year as rapidly as people can be trained. Eventual work force will approximate 200, said Mr. Williamson. Expansion ! of the production area can be j handled easily with the addition | of bays at the back of the origi- ) nal building. The McGill Company was found- ed in 190 5 to produce electrical specialties and the Bearing Divi- sion was added in 1925. Innova- tions in heavy duty needle roller bearings and the creation of the cam follower bearing has elevated McGill to leadership in the indus- try. Another new McGill bearing concept known as the SPHERE- ROL spherical roller bearing of- fers protective seals for the first time in this type bearing. The new plant is the first for Mc- Gill outside of Valparaiso, where the company employs over 850 in two divisions. Further expansion with smaller plants is planned for the future. Charles McGill said today that new plant locations will favor areas where employment potential f o r people trainable for our required skills is greatest. A plant manager to be an- nounced Hater will be moved from Valparaiso along with a few key supervisory people. Those inter- ested in future employment should contact the Personnel De- partment at the parent plant in Valparaiso for details. AUTO LICENSE BUREAU TO BE CLOSED NOV. 11 The Marshall County Auto Li- cense Branch at Plymouth will be closed Thursday, Nov. 11, in ob- servance of Veteran's Day. It will reopen Friday at 8:30 a.m. ac- cording to Rosemary Bergman, Manager. Junior-Sponsored The Board of School Trustees on Monday evening discussed in de- tail with Robert Cultice of State Exchange Insurance Company a proposed revision of the entire in- surance program for the school corporation. The plan explained to the School Board would increase to a more adequate amount the in- surance coverage for school facili- ties while reducing the number of policies now in effect. Certain types of losses or damage not now covered would be added to the pro- tection provided by present poli- cies. The Board took the matter of such a program under consid- eration for a later decision. Superintendent Frank McLane also explained the provisions of the 1965 Elementary and Secon- dary Education Act, giving atten- tion to possible improvements in the educational program by use of funds available under Title I of the new legislation. It seemed likely that the local school offi- cials would give immediate atten- tion to the expansion of remedial reading and arithmetic programs in order to aid pupils having trouble in these areas. Because of a temporary vacancy, a bus driver is needed for one af- ternoon route. Mr. Robert Flora at present drives the route in the morning, but is not available for the evening trip. Supt. McLane is seeking.at. present for a man who could drive the route in the after- noon, with the duties extending from about 3:10 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. The afternoon trip remuner- ation is $4.50 daily. Christmas Club Checks Totaled $131,289.97 W. O. Grandma baked pies today and we had a good laugh together over the story she used to tell me as a l i t t le g i r l of a lady who baked pies and marked them to tell them apart. H a l f she marked T M for 'Tis Mince, the others T M for 'Tisn ' t Mince.

I t ' s such fun having Grandma live i n our house. Her stories of the old days, her understanding humor, and her j o y i n l iv ing spark our lives. She needs no label. That she's a Christ ian glows i n everything she does. No matter what the circumstances, she meets people and situations w i t h love and goodness. F'ull credit is hers, that none of the problems that we feared when she came to live w i t h us have developed.

Yes, I ' d say Grandma has rubbed off on al l o f us. We all go to church now and we're much happier because of i t : We've learned f rom Grandma that happiness comes f rom doing good and loving God.

W h y don't you go to Church and take your fami ly w i t h you?

The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the saka of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily.
