?Trivia Questions

Page 12: FARM FRESH RHODE ISLAND Local Food and Fun on the menu at Rhode Island Senior Centers Mikayla Anthes, Food & Nutrition Education Manager Kimberly Clark,

In 2009, due to demand by school food purchasers, Schartner Farms in Exeter, RI increased production of this crop by 60,000 pounds.

When schools did not purchase the entire crop, the farmer listed it for the first time on “Market Mobile”, a local food distribution catalog. Market Mobile customers immediately bought all of it. The vegetable has since become so popular that production has increased steadily each year.

This vegetable is now listed year round on Market Mobile, and available through three other produce vendors used by RI schools, hospitals, universities and senior centers.

What is the vegetable?
