EXAMPLE

Page 6: Faris s almasari 42810098

• Widget Co. produces 10 widgets per worker per hour.

• After a training program, the company now produces 15 widgets per worker per hour.

• Productivity has risen, so Widget Co. generates more profit.

produced over a period of time”. For example; The number of amalgam fillings a dentist finishes over a week.

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice : Technical Skills

• Willingness to learn and make sense of scientific knowledgeWorking as a dentist you will need a good academic background and interest in scientific knowledge particularly human anatomy and oral diseases processes. These skills are increasingly becoming important for all members of the dental care team. It is also important for you to update and test your knowledge against experience.

• Good manual dexterityBeing good with your hands is important as well as good eyesight, including colour recognition. A key part of the role would be confident handling of medical instruments while working inside someone’s mouth.

• Good eyesight and colour visionYou will be carrying out precision work in confined spaces.

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice : Technical Skills• Ability to offer advice and educate others

There's a strong educational element to your job, teaching the skills for patients to keep their teeth and gums in good condition. You’ll be dealing with a broad range of people, each with their own characteristics and concerns.

• Happy to work as part of a teamThe dental care team consists of a wide range of people with different skills and academic backgrounds. You need to have strong interpersonal skills and enjoying working as a team.

• Excellent people skillsNo two patients, and no two procedures, are ever quite the same. You would be providing dental care for people of all ages, from young children through to grandparents. You should be able to put people at their ease, gain their confidence and deal sympathetically with their problems and fears.

Page 19: Faris s almasari 42810098

Teamwork should be a main role in dental practice

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice:

Time Management

Page 21: Faris s almasari 42810098

• 1. Relax and Remain Composed• Everything cannot be finished at once. The first step towards effectively

managing time is to take a step back and think clearly. Rushing into any situation without poise can make even the easiest task feel impossible.

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice : TIME MANAGEMENT

Page 22: Faris s almasari 42810098

• 2. Construct a Plan and Follow It• A man without a plan is as good as lost. Jumping headfirst into a

bevy of tasks in any profession is one of the quickest ways to become overwhelmed. The reason that writers swear by the power of outlines is because it keeps you on task and always pointed in the right direction. Clearly constructing a plan of attack before tackling assignments is crucial towards managing time.

Page 23: Faris s almasari 42810098

• 3. Delegate Assignments• You can’t do everything yourself and one of the most important

ways to stay on point is to delegate assignments that can be done by others. This step is an important piece of the puzzle towards organization as it allows multiple tasks to be finished at once. However, proceed with caution on this step and make sure that you properly understand which responsibilities can be trusted in the hands of others.

Page 24: Faris s almasari 42810098

• 4. Most Important Things First• After constructing a plan and assigning certain tasks it

is now time to tackle the most pressing issues. No matter how many items remain on your plate it is imperative to handle the most important ones first. Finalizing the biggest tasks first shines a light on the end of the tunnel allowing you to coolly and calmly continue tie up the other loose ends.

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice:

Challenges in Dentistry

Page 27: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice : Challenges in Dentistry

• TechnologyDentists must stay abreast of changing technology, become trained

to operate new devices and decide which technology will make the most sense for their patients. This could include dental lasers, digital x-rays and lighting systems. Medical equipment is expensive, so dentists need to be selective in choosing what technology to invest in. Meanwhile, waiting too long to buy new equipment can result in an outdated purchase.

Page 28: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice : Challenges in Dentistry

• CommunicationGoing to the dentist can involve pain, awkwardness and learning that you

need to spend large amounts of money to fix a problem you didn't know you had. Soothing fears and making sure a patient is comfortable. while avoiding mistakes and using the proper procedures, is an ever-present challenge. "I find my greatest challenge is communicating with my patients," says Dr. Albert J. Kurpis, a cosmetic  dentist. Dentists must excel in one-way conversation, because usually patients undergoing dental work are not able to respond.

Page 29: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting Productivity In The Dental Practice : Challenges in Dentistry

• Work EnvironmentDentists are required to spend long hours on their feet, performing

repetitive routines that require a high skill level and precision. The routine of working in the same office for 40 or more hours a week can be a challenge for any professional. Staying alert and focused can be a challenge for dentists, who carry out potentially dangerous procedures on a daily basis. In addition, the mouth is a difficult place to work in. "Sometimes it is tough to do the work needed in the dark, wet area called the mouth," says dentist Jeff Dalin on All Experts.

What affects RCDP Student’s productivity ?

Page 31: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting RCDP students @ campus clinics:

•Guidelines for Instructors :

There’s no clear rules or guidelines that clarify the rights of the student and the clinical instructor . For example: Some instructor could ask you to repeat an approved treatment plan by another one.

Such action will increase wasted time and decrease patient’s desire for treatment.

My suggestions :

As same as the note we received previously regarding “ What should and shouldn’t dental assistants do “ , Similar memo should be issued regarding Student-Instructor relation.

Page 32: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting RCDP students @ campus clinics:

• Instructors Waiting Areas :Most of instructors unfortunately stay at the corner nearby ENDO cubics.

Even if they are Prostho instructors.

• Example: You are working at cubic 24 and you want to call the instructor, you have to walk all the way to Endo area & go back again and wait for the doctor to walk all the way to you too , NOTE: It really consume time aprox. 4 Minutes per call.

• My suggestions :• Each area should have one cubic for the instructor of that area. So he

can be few seconds away from his students.

Page 33: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting RCDP students @ campus clinics:

• Prostho Assistants:

• We need more assistants in prostho area as many of the cases requires 2 persons approach. So materials don’t set before the work is done.

• Example: You need a material from the assistant but he’s busy with another student loading a tray or holding suction for indirect preparation.

• My suggestion:

• One assistant should be assigned for providing students with materials and another assistant is assigned to help students in the cubic for any complicated procedures.

Page 34: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting RCDP students @ campus clinics:

• Incomplete Procedures:We still have to do paperwork for the pros. Evaluation also for incomplete

work. Even while we are having the E-System.

Example: You have an incomplete case up to wax try in . You can’t have the points before assigning the form to Auxiliary Chief.

My suggestion:To Modify the system and program it to solve this issue so it can calculate

the percentage up to the reached step.

Page 35: Faris s almasari 42810098

Factors Affecting RCDP students @ campus clinics:

• Dental lab:

• This semester, the lab reached its worst performance and quality ever.

• I had to take all my work to outside Lab. In order to get my work on time.

Positives at RCDP Clinics

Page 37: Faris s almasari 42810098

• Electronic file system

Saved a lot of wasted time and increased infection control and Decreased lost files. Also improved the students in dealing with technology.

Page 38: Faris s almasari 42810098

• Comprehensive system

Providing sequential treatment plan which will guarantee that all patients will have high quality treatment.
