INTRODUCTION

The capital city of Iran is Tehran. The main language spoken there is Persian, or Farsi. Iran is in south-western part of Asia.

GEOGRAPHY

Iran has a border with the Gulf of Oman in the south, the Persian Gulf in the southwest, and the Caspian Sea in the North. The highest point is Kuh-e Damavand and the lowest point is the Caspian Sea. The total area is 636,372 square miles, or 1,648,195 square kilometers. The total land area is 591,352 square miles, or 1,532,595 square kilometers. The water area is 45,020 square miles or 116,600 square kilometers.

IN THE NORTH AND SOUTHWEST, IRAN HAS GREEN LOWLANDS WITH RICH SOILS FOR PLANTING. IN THE NORTH AND WEST THERE ARE MOUNTAINS AND IN THE MIDDLE AND EAST OF THE COUNTRY THERE ARE TWO DESERTS.

ECONOMYIRAN HAS LOTS OF OIL. IN THE SOUTHWESTERN PART OF IRAN ARE ITS RICHEST OIL FIELDS.

IN IRAN ON JUNE, JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, AND OCTOBER THERE ISN’T A LOT OF RAIN, BUT ON THE REST OF THE MONTHS THERE ARE MUCH MORE RAIN. IN THE SUMMER THE TEMPERATURE CAN GO AS HIGH AS 30 DEGREES CELSIUS AND IN THE WINTER AS LOW AS 4 TO 3 DEGREES CELSIUS.
