Coins: You can use any U.S. coin up to$1.00 in value. Insert them one at a time.Foreign coins and slugs will be rejected.

Cash: The farebox will accept $1, $5,$10 and $20 bills. Bills need to beunfolded and inserted one at a time.

Purchasing a Day Pass: Tell the busoperator what type of pass you need,insert payment, and a smart Day Passwill be issued from the top of the farebox.The Day Pass will be printed to show the

date of sale.

Day Pass Tokens: Simply drop your tokenin the coin insertion slot and a smartDay Pass will be automatically issued.The farebox will not accept any tokensother than VTA day pass tokens.

Boarding with a Day Pass: If you areusing a smart Day Pass, tag it on the

target on the left-hand side of thefarebox. If you have a Day Pass fromlight rail, simply show it to the operator.

Boarding with a Monthly Flash Pass:Just show the pass to the operator.

Boarding with a Clipper Card:TagClipper cards on the Clipper readerlocated next to the farebox.

Transfers: To board using a paper transferor pass from AC Transit, BART, SamTrans,ACE, or Capitol Corridor, give your transferor show your pass to the coach operator.To board using a Highway 17 Express orMST pass, just swipe the pass in the mag-netic stripe reader.

The new fareboxes will ensure accuratefare collection and provide informationto help VTA better focus its service to theever-changing needs of its passengers.
