Special Olympics World Games 2015July 25 – August 2L.A. County Employee Volunteer Information

As a Fans in the Stands volunteer, cheer on the Special Olympics athletes during competition! A Team Captain will recruit at least 10 people to be part of their group for the day, and together you will support the World Games at an assigned venue.

County employees can volunteer for the World Games on County time with a manager’s prior approval.

FANS IN THE STANDS VOLUNTEERS

Know someone who isn’t a County employee but wants to volunteer?

Send them to www.la2015.org for the general volunteer application and more information.

Volunteer Requirement:

› Available for a minimum of 1 day

To Volunteer on County Time

1. Visit mylacounty.gov and click the Special Olympics World Games 2015 image.

2. Review the information provided on the page.

3. Click the “Apply to Volunteer on County Time” button.

4. Complete the application and only select the days for which you want to volunteer on County time and need approval from your manager.

5. Your manager will approve or disapprove your application and further instruction will be provided.

To Volunteer on Your Own Time

1. Visit mylacounty.gov and click the Special Olympics World Games 2015 image.

2. Review the information provided on the page.

Team Captains Only:

3. Click the “Fans in the Stands Volunteer Application” button.

4. Complete the World Games Fans in the Stands Application for your team.

5. The World Games will contact you with further information.

MEDICAL SERVICES/HEALTHY ATHLETESFANS IN THE STANDS VOLUNTEERS

Application InstructionsIf your group wishes to volunteer on County time, you must individually submit the internal application to your manager. Your team must also select a Team Captain who is responsible for registering your team with the World Games and completing an online training (approximately 1 hour).
