Dracula’s Treasure
Dracula’s TreasureMystery/Comedy. By Dudley Saunders. Cast: 5m., 3w. Dracula’s Treasure is a modern mystery-comedy built around the classic Dracula vampire character, which has provided the theatre some of its most thrilling mo-ments. Filled with action, this tale is a little scary and a lot of fun. The Boone family has taken over an old house that has been unoccupied for 10 years and employs a housekeeper to clean and a carpenter to repair the broken woodwork. But they keep disappearing behind sliding panels and vanishing walls—and a secret room is revealed containing a chained coffin that knocks. In the night, Dracula emerges from the coffin and hov-ers ominously over Nancy, but hides in the window seat when a dark figure enters furtively through a win-dow. So it goes for two acts until Dracula hypnotizes the young people who have discovered his treasure and very nearly succeeds in luring them down through the tunnel into his underworld, but is foiled in the nick of time. One int. set. Modern costumes. Approximate run-ning time: 45 minutes. Code: DC1.
