Family or Compromise Style
A formal meal service.
The task of serving is assignedamong the members of family.
Considered to be a restyledEnglish Service because the hoststill portions the food into theplates of diners however differsin the way it will be served.

Definition
The type of meal servicewherein the diners serve thedifferent courses and only twocourses are planned – main dishand dessert.
Used for a small group/family.
Method
The main course in anappropriate container, andstacked dinner plates are placedat the cover of the host.
Each diner passes his/herplate until it reaches the server.
Dish is served onto plates withall the accompaniments
Dinner plate with foods ispassed back to the diner
This is the reason why the taskof serving is assigned among thefamily members. Thus theperson who dines at the tableacts as waiter or waitress.
Method
Dessert is served after thetable is cleared.
Soiled dinner plates arepassed to the one who served thefoods earlier, place it in thekitchen, then return withdessert.

The dining table must besufficiently spacious toaccommodate serving of dishesfrom hand to hand.
Best used when the grouptable is small, usually not morethan 8, so as to serve the food inits supposed temperature.
