GPS30 Experience the Journey
This year, GMV will be joining with many other churches in praying for our
desperately needy world. Through a historic effort called GPS30, congregations all
across the United States will experience the power of intensive, purposeful prayer.
It’s part of a movement with the ultimate goal of millions of Christ followers praying
for an entire month for this world that so needs Jesus.
GPS30 is a Global Prayer Strategy for 30 days. It is a focused intercession for the
world. The guide for this 30 day journey is a unique resource, the GPS30 World Prayer Atlas. We will use
this prayer atlas for a few minutes each day to pray for the needs around us. By the end of the 30 days
we will have prayed for the world and in the process, our own lives will be changed.
GPS30 is unique because it is not another program added to our calendar. Our vision statement is “Love
God, love others, serve the world.” This prayer effort will only enhance our love for the Lord, for each
other and will prepare us to be servants of Jesus Christ. This prayer journey links perfectly with
ministries that are already in place and will only deepen our spiritual lives.
The United Methodist Men of GMV, at our last meeting on June 9, decided to purchase the Prayer
Atlases for the entire congregation. I want to thank the men of the church for stepping up to the plate
and believing that prayer changes things. In Mark 9, a father brought his son to Jesus. The boy was filled
with an evil spirit and no one could help him. The father said to Jesus, “If you can do anything…” Jesus
responded, “If you can, everything is possible for the one who believes.” Immediately the father
responded, “I do believe; help my unbelief.” Jesus commanded the unclean spirit to come out and the
boy was healed. Later, his disciples asked him, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” Jesus replied, “This kind
can come out only by prayer.”
Oswald Chambers, the great man of God, once said, “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer
is the greater work.” Will you be a part of this most important work? I want to ask you to circle August 1
on your calendar. That is the day we will begin the journey to pray around the world. In the next few
weeks you will be hearing much more about GPS30. Right now, make a commitment to be a part of
something that will change your life and make a difference around the world!
It is an honor to be your senior pastor,
Mike
