Stewardship Reflection - Feast of the Transfiguration

Summer is a wonderful time to focus on God’s bounty

and promise. When we are genuine stewards as

disciples of Jesus we can reflect on the goodness of all

of God’s children as we transform the world by sharing

our time, our talents, and our treasure.

Liturgical Reflection: August 6th

The Consent of the couple follows the three questions

on freedom, fidelity, and acceptance of children. The

priest or deacon invites the couple to publicly declare

their consent to one another. The groom is first; the

bride is second. There are two different formulae for

the consent; the couple chooses which option of consent

they wish for their wedding. There is also the option to

repeat after the minister or to simply say “I do.” The

bridegroom and the bride are the true ministers of this

Sacrament in their public Consent to each other. This

Consent should be audible to all in the assembly.

Are you Celebrating a Wedding Anniversary? Bishop Mark Bartchak and the Family Life Office

cordially invite all couples celebrating 1, 5, 10, 25, 40,

50, 55, and 60+ Wedding Anniversary in 2017 (and

their families) to attend the Annual Wedding

Anniversary Liturgy. Couples may attend Sunday,

Sept. 10th

in Altoona at Cathedral of the Blessed

Sacrament or Sunday, Sept. 17th

in Johnstown at Saint

John Gualbert Cathedral. Liturgies in each location

begin at 2 pm. Reservations must be made through the

parish office for either celebration by Tuesday, August

22nd

DID YOU KNOW? That 80% of students stop

practicing their faith at some point during college.

The Newman Connection can change this. You

spend your whole life encouraging and guiding

students to God and the Church. You can still help

safeguard their faith journey from interruptions by

connecting them to Catholic Campus Ministry. In

order to start the process, please “pick-up” a

contact card in the vestibule of the church. Then

bring the card back to the parish office or place in

the collection basket. The parish office will mail

the information for you “OR” you can do this by

going to newmanconnection.com/ambassador to

sign up. If you choose to register online, please

kindly send the parish office an email with your

student’s information so that we can also keep in touch

with our college bound students whether they live on

campus or at home.

High School Seniors – Please continue to be active in

the many ministries at our parish. If you would like to

know more about serving our parish needs, please

contact Father Jozef. This is also a great way to meet

new people and to build relationships. You never know

when you need a reference for a job or college!

Happy 97th

Birthday! to Primo Lusardi who will

celebrate this special day on Friday, August 11th
