Families and the Gospel July 22 Mark 6:30-34)
In today’s gospel “the apostles gathered around and told
Jesus all they had done.” Listening allows the other
person to express, understand and appreciate their
experiences. Whether it is the excited chatter of young
children or the repetitious stories of an aging
grandparent, listening is important. It is not just time
well spent, it is sacred time.
Saint Anne Triduum in honor of Saint Anne will be
held July 24, 25,2& 26 at Saint John Gualbert Cathedral,
117 Clinton Street, Johnstown. Mass and devotions will
be held at 7pm each evening with confessions following
mass.
There is still time to join the pilgrimage (sponsored by St. Benedict Parish in Johnstown) to Assisi and Rome this October 1-10, 2018. Brochures and information can be obtained by contacting Deacon Michael 288-3036 or [email protected] or visit the website at https://stbenedictchurch.org/
The Oberammergau Passion Play – Following
through on a promise made at the time the Black plague
was raging in Germany, in 1633 the Oberammergau
villagers promised to perform the suffering, death and
resurrection of Christ every tenth year if they were
spared. The prayer of the tow was answered by God and
in 1634 the first Passion Play took place. Msgr. Becker
will be leading a pilgrimage to this historic and moving
play on June 10-21st, 2020. Included in this trip will be
visits to the shrines of Eastern Europe and Southern
Germany, including Munich, Prague, Krakow and
Czestochowa. There will be an important informational
meeting at 7 pm on Monday, July 30th at Saint John’s
Parish Center in Altoona, and again at 7 pm on Tuesday,
July 31st at Saint Benedict’s Pastoral Center in
Geistown. For information call Msgr. Becker at 814-

THOUGHTS ON STEWARDSHIP
AS A WAY OF LIFE
“…come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest
awhile.” Mark 6: 31
Do you spend time, every day, alone and in silence
listening to how God is calling you? If not, you are
missing out on a wonderful opportunity to develop a
more personal relationship with Him. Unless we talk
and more importantly, listen to God every day, how else
will we know how He is calling us? Consider making a
retreat this year, spend some “alone” time with God.

Stewardship Reflection July 22nd How appropriate it is that the topic of today’s
summertime gospel is about the need for us to relax and

time daily to go “rest a while” to renew ourselves in the
