Events include bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing and mutton bustin’ fun for the kids. 6th Crazy Horse Night Blast, Crazy Horse Memorial, (605) 673-4681, crazyhorsememorial.org. In observance of Crazy Horse’s death in 1877 and the commemoration of the 107th birth date of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski born in 1908, this second night blast of the year (weather permitting) is a spectacular show of pyrotechnics. Admission to the Memorial is free after 5 pm, although a food donation is very much appreciated.

Native American Day is celebrated at Crazy Horse Memorial with a free public program featuring Native American singers and dancers and hands-on activities for children are offered in the visitor complex. From the Peter Norbeck Visitor Center, participants hike a paved path along a “creepy” route with costumed characters along the way. Make plans for the 5th annual Monster Ball on Friday with a live band, dancing, and prizes; and the annual Costume Contest with more than $8,000 in cash and prizes for the best costumes on Saturday.
