All of the data in this Fact Book are extracted from the CUNY Institutional Research Database of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Budget, Finance, and Information Services, The City University of New York.

The data presented herein reflects the John Jay College student population in their journey towards earning their credential if degree- or certificate-seeking. Metrics such as retention rates, graduation rates, credentials awarded reflect activity of John Jay College "home" institution students while at John Jay College. "Home" institution students are those students whose primary college of enrollment is John Jay (i.e., excludes permit-ins). Students that begin their education at John Jay College, but transfer and continue their education at another CUNY institution, are reported by CUNY's Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) in their publicly-available, online databooks. Current and historical OIRA reports are available at: http://www2.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/oira/institutional/data/

2 "New transfers" excludes internal transfers.

1 Ns reflect an unduplicated headcount of John Jay College "home" institution students, that entered in the fall term indicated, as either a first-time freshmen or new transfer (excludes

internal transfers), seeking a bachelors degree (no associates, certificates or non-degree).

4 "Regular Admit" is defined as excluding ESL and SEEK students; "Conditional Admit" is defined as students that are not full admit status at the start of the first term enrolled.

5 Cohort represents only first-time, full-time, baccalaureate-seeking John Jay College "home" Institution enrollment in the spring term at John Jay College immediately following the fall term

of entry. Students enrolled earning zero credits are included in the dataset and credit hours average calculation. Average credits are computed for the full 12 month enrollment period (i.e.,

fall, spring, summer) whether or not the student chose to enroll in summer term courses at John Jay College or another CUNY institution for credit.

TABLE 5. FIRST-TIME BACCALAUREATE DEGREE-SEEKING FRESHMEN & NEW TRANSFERS

3 Cohort N reflects consecutive John Jay College "home" institution enrollment (i.e., those that enrolled at John Jay College in the spring term, immediately following the fall term of entry),

and subsequently took courses in the summer term (at any CUNY institution) following the spring term.

RATE OF PROGRESS1

Percentage and number of first-time freshmen and new transfer2 baccalaureate degree-seeking students taking 1 or more courses

the summer after entry3

Average number of credits earned by full-time first-time freshmen in baccalaureate programs in the first 12 months (fall, spring and

summer terms)5
