Age Requirements Children Under the Age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult at all times unless in a registered program.

Children ages 9 - 12 must have an adult in the building unless participating in supervised, recreational activities. Children need to be signed in and out by a parent.

Age Requirements by Program Area Pool: General rules: 5 & under parent/guardian needs to be in pool, 6 - 8 parent/guardian in pool area, 9 - 12 parent/guardian in the building. Lifeguards reserve the right to overrule this policy. Prime Time in The Zone: 5 & up, unless enrolled in SACC, VFC, Preschool, Acrobatics, Family Time, Birthday Parties or scheduled Child Watch time. Wellness Center: Age 13+ (Must complete a Wellness Orientation). Group Exercise Classes: Age 13+ Sauna: Age 18+ Child Watch: Minimum age 6 weeks; No drop off 30 minutes before closing. Membership Hold Policy Memberships can be placed on hold for up to 90 days annually for a $25 fee. Hold fees are non-refundable and due in advance.

Member Benefits A membership gives you access to: group exercise classes, trained staff, unlimited use of the wellness center, gym and pool, active older adult programs, dance classes, preschool, FREE child watch and more! As a member you register first and pay reduced rates on youth & adult specialty classes.

Insurance Information The YMCA does not carry individual accident insurance for participants. Individuals participate at their own risk.

Photo & Cell Phone Policy Cell phone use is not permitted in the locker rooms, wellness center, gym and other program areas. NO photos or videos may be taken without permission of YMCA management.

For Your Safety We have surveillance cameras in various locations on our property.

*Passport Memberships allow for use of the CANANDAIGUA YMCA and any of the 10 branches of the YMCA of Greater Rochester.

Joining Fees are tax deductible, and are only charged to new members and those that have lapsed more than 30 days. These fees are used as a source of funds to enhance membership services.

Payments can be made in one annual payment or monthly by direct debit from a bank account or credit card. 30 days written notice is required to stop the draft.

New year, same great swim team! Now’s the time to encourage your child, 6-18 to join our competitive swim team. Build confidence, gain skills and make lifelong friends swimming. It’s not just about joining a team, it’s about joining a family!

Registration Dates at the Y: August 29, 30 & 31 from 4-6 pm TRIAL PERIOD: If you’ve never done the swim team before, we want you to try it out. $50 for two weeks begins the week of September 10. NEW: USA-S Flex membership, this membership allows our athletes to compete in USA-S without the commitment of the year round membership. Flex members are entitled to two non-championship USA-S competitions and may upgrade at any time to the USA-S premium membership. ADULT SWIM CLASSES Senior Splash (Level 1-2, shallow) Shallow-water moves to increase mobility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability required.

Mon/TU/TH: 1:30 pm-2:30 pm

M.O.V.E (Level 1, Shallow) Let the water MOVE you towards better balance, posture, strength and agility. This small-group class is great for people with common movement disorders, including neuromuscular.

T/TH: 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Aquatone A (Level 3, Shallow/Deep) Full body workout class that spends 20-30 minutes on cardio and 20-30 minutes of strength and mobility.

T/TH: 9:00– 10:00 am

Aquatone B (Level 2, Shallow) All the benefits of Aquatone A, but with a higher level of cardiovascular intensity.

Rise–n-Cise (Level 5, Deep) Full body workout in deep and shallow water. Core, strength and cardio training at a high intensity level. No swimming skills necessary.

Full Throttle (Level 5-6, Deep) High-resistance, zero-impact full body workout in deep water. Core, strength and cardio training.

M/W/F: 10:45 am-NOON

Muscle to Music (Level 4-5, Shallow/Deep) Use the rhythms of the music with the resistance of the water for this full body workout. T/TH: 7:00 pm- 8:00 pm

Specialty Water Programs

Aqua HIIT & Swim HIIT High Intensity Interval Training combining strength and cardio in the water. Aqua HIIT doesn’t have as much lap swimming as the swim HIIT does. This is a low-impact option for HIIT and it will turn those boring laps into FUN! Purchase a punch pass to participate in these programs.

Aqua HIIT: Mondays 5:45- 6:45 pm Swim HIIT: Wednesdays 6:00- 7:15 pm

Adult Water Personal Training All levels welcome; beginner thru advanced. Requires Initial Assessment. Email [email protected] to schedule or stop at the Welcome desk.

Water Running Bring your running to the pool. Water running uses the resistance to build more muscle and burn more calories, with no impact.

YOUTH SPORTS / FITNESS Tumbling (ages 3-5 and 6-9) Introduce your little one to the basics of tumbling or continue to develop existing tumbling skills in this seven week program. Your child will work on developing a variety of skills, including somersaults, headstands, cartwheels and springboard. Watch your child improve their balance and flexibility while having fun!

Tuesday: 4:00- 4:45 pm (ages 3-5) Tuesday: 4:45- 5:30 pm (ages 6-9) Cost: $35 members, $55 non-members Iddy Biddy Sampler (ages 3 - 5) Encourage your child to have fun while being active! During this seven week program, children will be introduced to soccer, basketball and flag football while learning about sportsmanship and teamwork. Please bring sneakers, water bottle and exercise attire. Saturday: 9:30- 10:15 am Cost: $35members, $55 non-members Kid Fit (ages 4-6 and 7-10) Introduce your child to the world of fitness with this active and fun seven week program. They’ll do a variety of different activities that will build strength and confidence.

NEW! Indoor Soccer League (ages 6-7 and 8-9) Jump into our 10 week recreational indoor soccer league! Teams will be decided based on age and skill level. All players will receive a team shirt. Game times are subject to change based on total registrations.

Dunkin’ for Pumpkins Jump in to family fun at the Y when we put PUMPKINS in the POOL! Swim to get a pumpkin and then decorate your pumpkin. Concessions sponsoring the swim team will be available.

Self Defense (ages 10 and up) Learn to keep yourself safe and develop confidence with Self Defense instructor Dave Cole. Dave Cole taught self-defense for the New York State Police and Steuben Sheriff SWAT and experience in karate/jiu-jitsu for over 30 years. He also has years of law enforcement. Kinder Dance (Ages 3-5)

This class combines ballet and tap for young dancers. The student will learn basic steps, terminology, dance history and basic anatomy, all while having FUN! Attire: Pink tank leotard (no skirt attached), white tights, pink or white ballet slippers (NO BLACK). Ballet skirt is optional. Level III Jazz (Ages 11 & up) This class is fun-filled, fast paced and focuses on more advanced steps, terminology, jazz dance history, basic anatomy and level appropriate movements. Studying styles of famous jazz choreographers are also taught. Attire: Black tank leotard, white tights, pink or white ballet slippers (NO BLACK). Ballet skirts or dance shorts are optional. Exercise is vital for people of all ages for maintaining health, preventing injuries, and lowering your risks of heart disease. This program will improve your strength and give you a jump start towards a better and healthier you.

Kettlebell 101 This 30 minute class will teach you the basic fundamentals to move to the next level. Kettlebell training gives fast results for strength, endurance and muscle toning by challenging both the muscular and cardiovascular systems with dynamic, total body movements. Barbell Basics Focusing on teaching and improving your technique, we will break down different barbell lifts to help you maximize your efficiency and gain the strength and confidence to add this piece of equipment to your daily routine. Buff Bones Class Do you want strong bones and a strong body? Join Nancy for a new and fun workout that tones your body, strengthens your bones, improves your balance, coordination, posture and flexibility. The class is led by Nancy Alexander, PT,CSCS, ACE Certified Senior Fitness Specialist, Licensed Buff Bones Instructor. Nancy brings her physical therapy training and experience to make this medically endorsed program a must for adults who want to improve their health. You must be able to get up and down from the floor without assistance. This is safe for those with osteoporosis.
