To provide a unified strategy for adult learning that will create clear pathways to post-secondary education and employment opportunities for all students, regardless of their current educational functioning level when they enter the continuum or pipeline of learning.

Adult Education is a term used nation-wide to refer to programs for people 17 and older with less than high school competencies:

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Grades 6-8 (Delivered through partnership with the Literacy Center)

Grades 9-12 340
Non-credit ESL Low beginning to advanced levels: Advanced aligns with the lowest of GRCC’s 100- level ESL classes.

●Non-credit Job Training programs are not, in and of themselves, below college level. In fact, many of the programs require complex skills.
●Increasing numbers of students are
enrolling without the basic skill requirements for the programs.
●ADE will work with these programs to design intake/assessment practices and basic skill delivery within Job Training to increase the success of the students who arrive with basic skill deficits.

● Developmental education is a field of practice and research within higher education with a theoretical foundation in developmental psychology and learning theory. It promotes the cognitive and affective growth of all postsecondary learners, at all levels of the learning continuum.
