South Flathead Sailing Association P.O. Box 1111 Missoula, MT. 59806 Fall 2009 The South Flathead Sailing Association is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to advancing the sport of sailing. As members of U.S. Sailing, the SFSA provides learning opportunities, social events, a racing program, youth sailing opportunities, and welcomes new sailors into the fold. The South Flathead Sailing Association has been in existence since September of 1998. We are based out of the Dayton Yacht Harbor on the west shore of Flathead Lake, Montana. Commodore’s Signal Well, another season is in the books. The boats are put away (halyards tied off?) and we are all settled in for the long Montana winter, waiting for the next sailing magazine or West Marine catalog to keep the juices flowing. It was a good year for the SFSA. We had a successful KISS series and three good races/regattas with over 60 entrants participating. We also managed a cruise to nowhere, several moon cruises, and a successful Kiwanis kids sailing day. But there’s always room for improvement. We all sail for different reasons. Some of us race, some of us socialize, and others just want to get away. Whatever your reasons, we want to be an organization that looks out for our common interest – sailing. Whether it’s dock issues (how well were your neighbor’s dock lines tied off during that storm?), safe sailing (did you practice your man overboard drill this year?), or racing (is it really possible to sail your boat to that PHRF?), let us know what you are interested in seeing, join the association, and get involved, we can always use new energy and ideas… Have a great winter and see you in the Spring! ‐‐ Jeremy Winter Board Meeting January 30th, 4:00 p.m. Old Post Pub 103 W.
