1. Equipment sometimes doesn’t work.

2. Knowledge of basic Lego and Robolab is needed.

1. This lab follows the course?

2. Missing good batteries.

3. The batteries aren’t always charged, but there are plenty of Lego pieces to use.

4. The lab materials don’t follow the lecture material. But it’s ok!

5. Would be nice if each group was assigned a complete Lego set. 6. But we really don’t have robotics classes, and we're learning about the profession of Mech. Engineering.

1. The lecture class doesn’t really cover the stuff we are doing in here except doing the design process and stuff.

2. The lab instructor doesn’t really talk at all and if you ask questions he kind of just stares at you.

3. We have enough Lego but the batteries all suck and some of the RCX's don’t work.

1. Lab instructors are very unprepared. Lab reports are not clearly defined. Information to complete lab reports is not given. 2. The lab instructor needs to become more active in the lab. Also the lab instructor needs to become more familiar with the lab procedures. 3. Be more prepared to explain our lab procedures. During our last lab we were given instructions on what data we were to collect, but later discovered that it contradicted the written instructions for the lab. 4. It would help if the instructor knew how the equipment worked, and can operate with little confusion. Also it would help if he talked a little more and gave better explanations regarding what we are supposed to be doing. 5. The lab length is adequate considering there are many students in the class trying to perform the lab. The lab instructor has not been giving clear instructions. As to how the reports are to be done or what data was needed. (i.e. information and instruction are conflicting) 6. The labs are far behind the lectures. 7. The lab TA's are like babysitters to me. They do not help much at all, all they do is turn the machines on. No advice from them at all. 8. Lab instructor is incompetent and contradicts the lab manual. Extremely difficult to understand it and when rare occasion comes that he does speak. They are never prepared for the lab. It is hard to evaluate the lab manual with this horrible of instruction/ lack of help during the lab. 9. The lab instructor does not know the experiments we are doing and is not prepared at all. The lab instructor tells us the wrong instruction on which data we need and he does not know how to use the equipment, very displeased with this lab. 10. Given incorrect instructions on labs. 11. Did not have all necessary chemicals for first experiment.

1. The lab instructor should emphasize at least once during the lab what is required for the lab report. Sometimes the lab manual and the instructor are in disagreement. Lab instructor is usually a few minutes late getting to the lab. 2. I feel we spent a lot of time doing just one lab when I would rather have done something shorter and had time to see other things.

3. However the material we are dealing with in the lab was discussed in previous lectures. They do not coincide.

4. Our TA seems to be the best overall especially from what I hear of other TA's.

5. Lab manual seems to be just a guide/ pamphlet

1. Lab write-ups take as much time as a chapters worth of homework. Some take let hours which is horrible for a one unit lab. 2. Extremely hard to understand, but tries to help. ITS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE SO MANY OF THE TA'S ARE IMPOSSIBLE To UNDERSTAND BECAUSE OF THEIR SPEECH. 3. More info as to what is wanted; more concise instructions. Instructor is helpful and available when needed. 4. More equipment. We spent three hours waiting to run a test that took ~15 seconds. 5.Need to name some of equipment in manual and some more details in procedures. 6. Sometime we are waiting 2-3 hours to get to the equipment. Maybe split up the class into halves, so were not just sitting while waiting. 7. The lab equipments work, but since there only a few, we keep waiting. 8. Mostly we just sit here waiting for our turn. Not a good use of our time. Have half the class come form 1:00-2:30 and the second half from 2:30-4:00.

2. I don’t know if the lab equipments are functional. But it doesn’t do what it is supposed to do.

3. Power point instructor not effective.

4. Need more TA's for this lab.

5. Working equipment. 6.The lab is complicated. There are many exercises at one time and they are hard to understand the material. I can follow the directions of the lab just to get the lab done but I still don’t understand the materials. 7. It would be helpful if there was some explanation of the lab before hand and then do at least low exercises to practice the lecture.

8.The lab manual is for an older version of the program and many things have been changed in the new version. 9. The lab is undersupplied in terms of basic circuit that are needed to build circuits for the lab exercises. The NI ELVIS machines are also frequently malfunctioning.

10.We are using lab view. Still have an old version of the manual. Functions are not the same.

11. Lab experiments vary from the lecture material.

12. Would want a bigger lab with more computers. Do not like sharing computers.

13. The manual to an extent is outdated comparison to the program.

18. Some PCs/ ELVIS bands are non-operational. 19. The lab manuals describe programs for lab view 7.0. Since we are using lab view 8.0, there are many changes in the programs. 20. In many cases our NI ELVIS board does not work correctly and we lack sufficient parts (conductors, resistors..) to all work on the labs at the same time/ individually.

21. The software has been updated (Lab view 8.0) and the lab manual corresponds to an older version.

22. Question #2 relates to #1 that it takes longer time to achieve the lab with unupdated instructions.

23. In a word, loosely the lab is basically a tutorial in the software. Beyond that , the contents relates. 24. I'd like to go easy on the lab tech, being that it’s his 1st semester. He tries very hard to be in tune with the students needs. He seems pressurized.

25. There were more students than lab stations. No one cares. Bring in those tuition dollars.

26. Do professors give a care about students anymore? Not just some select few but students in general?

1. In the Lab manual, there are many missing steps in the examples and the examples do not cover the exercises.

2.Some lab experiments are longer than the allotted time period.

3. The lab instructor helps out to the best of his knowledge.

6. The Ta is reasonable with students time schedules, so he allows us to work in a good learning environment.

10.The notes for the examples and problems tend to contain defects and make whole programs fail because of it.

12. Most of the emphasis is on learning to program. We are now starting to follow the lecture. 13. Equipment is missing and there is no adequate explanation on how to use the equipment. Again, there are steps missing in the procedures. How do we know if it dies or does not work if we don’t know how to use it?

It seems as if the lecture has nothing to do with the lab. We are just learning how to setup control. 16. He always tries and helps everyone, gives extra time for those that need it like working on Friday. He's harder on some people in the class though.

17. Equipment is missing. Some of the NI ELVIS are broken test equipment is missing. Not enough computers sometimes there are six of us to a station.

1. Lab contains too much background and theory, makes finding correct equations difficult.

2. Lab focuses on Civil engineering lecture, not on ME lecture.

3. Seems to go with Civil lecture more than Mechanical. 4. The manual doesn’t describing anything that the mechanicals are discussing in lecture. The manual is based solely for the civils.

5. The lab experiments are based for civil and the reports take too long.

6. This lab is very unorganized.

7. It seems that the instructor doesn’t know what he is talking about or he is just a bad teacher. 8. This is the worst lab I have ever taken. It shows that no effort or time was taken into making this lab a success. I have learned nothing from the previous labs and this lab is a burden instead of a learning experience.
