Bgsu and the national FieldIn holding the 24th overall ranking at kick-off, Michigan State (Oct. 3) became the second nationally ranked program the Falcons encountered this season ... Ohio State (RV) entered the Sept. 20 match ranking 19th ... both teams bested the Orange and Brown 1-0 ... the Falcons will also face back-to-back powerhouses in previously ranked Michigan and # 23 Akron, on Oct. 17 and Oct. 20, respectively ... had U-M remained ranked, the foursome of opponents would have been the greatest number of national contenders the Falcons faced under in four seasons under Fred thompson.

Falcons Fall in cincinnatiThe Falcons were unable to tarnish the University of Cincinnati’s perfect record in their home stadium (Gettler Stadium) and fell to the host squad, 3-0 on Oct. 10 ... the Bearcats found their kicks late in the second half of the match beginning at the 65:55 mark as Kieron Gradwell capped Lionel Jackson’s corner kick with the score ... UC slid an additional two past red-shirt junior goal keeper Brent Petkus in the 79th and 84th minutes of the match ... in five home matches, UC has outscored their opponents 14-1 ... Petkus made his first save of the match in the 11th minute and went on to stop an additional five Bearcat scoring attempts ... he has earned two consecutive starts and is 0-1-1 in 2007.

Four goals, tWo ots, one Falcon tieabiola Sandy converted a penalty kick while classmate Ryan Perea chipped in the tying goal as the Falcons took the visiting Hartwick Hawks to a suspenseful double-overtime 2-2 tie in the Mid-American Conference home opener at Mickey Cochrane Stadium on Oct. 14 … the Hawks recorded their first score when John Paul Boyle intercepted cameron hepple’s pass in Hartwick’s territory mid-way through the first half of play ... once possession was ensured, Boyle challenged the Falcons’ charging goal keeper, Paul Shoemaker, and helped the Hawks to their first lead of the game at 23:47 … Hartwick took the single-goal lead into halftime but the Falcon’s needed only three minutes of the second period to execute their first rally of the match ... an infraction by the Hartwick defense against matt klancic allotted the Falcons their second penalty kick of the season which was once again successfully taken by Sandy … Bowling Green found themselves once again behind a goal six minutes later as the Hawks used a corner kick to their advantage by finding the smallest line of space to split members of the Falcons defense. Hartwick was up 2-1 with nearly 37-minutes remaining in regulation ... Bowling Green charged back for the second time at 61:05 when Perea received Shoemaker’s goal kick near the midfield line and took matters into his own hands (and feet) ... Perea beat out a pair of Hartwick’s defenders who were attempting to sandwich the senior in a smothering defensive effort ... once past that obstacle, Perea chipped a shot over the Hawks’ keeper and netted his first goal of the season and the last of the game ... with the goal, Shoemaker picked up his first assist with the Falcons ... defense ruled the following 20-minutes of overtime play and the first MAC meeting between the programs resulted in the 2-2

scouting the Wolverines(OctObEr17–U-MSOccErFiEld,AnnArbOr,Mich.)Head coach Steve Burns (the only coach in U-M soccer history) and his Wolverines opened at 8-0-1 nine games into the season, but have recently seen a four match losing skid … after dropping a 3-2 overtime decision to Big Ten foe, (then-19) Indiana, U-M has been out scored 10-0 in the past three games … the Sept. 29 match was the last game U-M has played at home … MAC affiliates Bowling Green (10/17) and Akron (10/24) will close the non-conference slate for the Big Ten squad … 10-of-15 players who have seen action in 11 or more games have recorded at least one goal for the Blue … Jake Stacey leas the squad with 13 points (3 g, 7a) while Perica Marosevic (11points / 5g, 3a) and Mauro Puzetti (10 points / 4g, 2a) also have tallied
