The FALCON Series:Long-range communicationsfrom the leader in HF radio

Harris At Harris, we’re proud to be one of the leading forcesin the development of advanced HF systems for militarytactical situations. After all, we pioneered the error-freetransmission of data and images over HF. We were oneof the first companies to simplify HF operation byoffering Automatic Link Establishment (ALE). Harris isconstantly developing new technology to meet theneeds of our customers for a full spectrum of rugged, reliable radio communications equipment.

In recent years, more and more customers haveexpressed renewed interest in HF communicationsby purchasing FALCON Series systems from Harris.HF technology offers reliable, cost-effective, point-to-point, long-distance communication without dependingon vulnerable system infrastructure or access tosatellites. The FALCON Series of HF equipment can beconfigured for a wide variety of military applicationsincluding manportable, vehicular, base station andtransit case configurations. These versatile, state-of-the-art systems quickly transmit voice, data, images and fax, overcoming the range limitations of line-of-sightcommunications.

We offer more to our customers than advancedtechnology. We were one of the first radiocommunications suppliers to gain ISO 9001certification. And our outstanding commitment tocustomer satisfaction continues to earn recognitionand awards from appreciative clients around the world.

When you add it all up, it comes down to this:whether you need a single digital transceiver like theRF-5200, or a complete, nationwide communicationssystem, you can count on Harris for outstandingtechnology, service and support. That’s why we’ve beena worldwide technology leader in our industry for morethan 40 years.

The FALCON Series systems are used extensively innumerous military conflicts and peace keeping missions. The success of our tactical communications equipmentin Operation Desert Storm is a matter of record. In fact,Harris received a Certificate of Appreciation from the USArmy Information Systems Command along with anaward for Contractor Excellence in recognition of theoutstanding performance of our systems and our servicesupport network.

In fast-moving tactical situations you need special toolsto communicate. That’s why military forces around theworld use the FALCON HF systems from Harris. Theserugged digital radio systems let you send and receivevoice and data from virtually anywhere.

The RF-5000 Series HF systems, which are based on theRF-5022R/T(E) transceiver, facilitate high performancevehicular, transportable and base station applications.

The RF-5200 systems are based on the AN/PRC-138Manpack which is ideal for “jerk-and-run”communications. Conversion from a high-powersystem to a manportable unit is as simple as theaddition of batteries and a backpack.

These highly mobile radio systems also include high-speed internal modems and encryption, eliminating the need to haul hard-to-carry peripherals.

If you’re looking for a rugged, mobile communicationssystem that’s easy to use, ask for the remarkableFALCON Series today. Whether you’re on the road or onfoot, you can count on it to get the message through.

The channel switch provides accessto 10 preprogrammed channels ornets while the keypad provides accessto all 100 preprogrammed channels.

The backlit keypad and easy-to-read, large-character alphanumericdisplay provide excellent visibilityunder all lighting conditions. TheFALCON systems are also fullycompatible with Night VisionGoggles.

Internal high-speed modems(39-tone, serial tone and FSK)transmit and receive data atrates up to 2400 bps.

Automatic antenna tuningmatches most whip, long-wire, and NVIS antennas, aswell as resonant dipoles.

Comprehensive, built-indiagnostics maximize uptimeby identifying failed modulesand defective circuits.

Automatic channel selection and voice/data detectionsimplify operation. Operators no longer need extensivetraining to get the message through.

Simply select the station or net you want to call, andyou’re on the air. The Man Machine Interface (MMI)provides a user-friendly menu that guides you throughthe selection of modulation mode, modem presets, encryption keys and squelch setting.

To simplify operation even further, you can configureaccess to operating modes, parameter selection andradio programming.

As a result, even inexperienced radio operators canquickly learn how to use the FALCON systems on thefield of battle or anywhere else.

Add powerful new capabilities in minutes

No bulky

external boxes.

No complicated

upgrades.

You can quickly upgrade your FALCON transceiverwhenever you want, thanks to our plug-in option boards.

Simplify HF communications withAutomatic Link Establishment (ALE).

This time-saving feature automatically establishescommunication links on the best authorized channelsavailable. The result? It dramatically reduces the need forskilled operators, because it makes the FALCONtransceivers as easy to operate as a telephone. ALE alsomakes unattended and unscheduled operations possible.

Transmit data reliably at high speeds.

With a new, multi-waveform, high-speed HF modem, youcan send and receive data up to 4800 bps. The modemincludes MIL-STD-188-110A Waveforms, STANAG 4285Waveform (RF-5022R/T(E) only), and is also compatiblewith FSK signalling. This advanced modem also includes aprogrammable data interface which allows you to linkyour FALCON Series system directly to fax machines, PCs,teletypes and cryptographic devices.

Prevent eavesdropping and jamming with state-of-the-art Frequency Hopping.

Frequency Hopping protects your tactical communicationsfrom eavesdropping, jamming and radio direction-findingtechniques by randomly changing the communicationfrequencies 20 times per second. Designed to supportdigital voice at 800 bps and digital data from 75 to 300bps with automatic baud rate and voice/data detection, this powerful module delivers the critical voice and datasecurity you need.

Provide maximum Voice & Data Security.

The digital encryption option secures sensitive data andvoice information with a unique algorithm that won’t berepeated for millions of years. The combination of digitalencryption, vocoding techniques and high-performancemodem waveforms ensure that your criticalcommunications won’t be compromised. Analog VoiceSecurity (AVS) protects your single channel voicecommunications with no reduction in range or reliability.
