June 2014
Rain !! Blessed Rain ??
After much anticipation and unrealized forecast predictions of
potential rainfall finally on Sunday and Monday the heavens opened
and much of our area received needed rainfall.
The timing - Memorial weekend - put me in mind of the childhood
ditty “Rain, rain go away – come again another day”. Having lived
the largest portion of my adult life in the state of Oklahoma I
immediately put that thought to rest in favor of take what we can get
whenever we can get it. Even when the timing seems less than ideal.
For example the Patriot Cup golf event at the Patriot was certainly
impacted. Area lake traffic was undoubtedly affected. Unfortunately,
the rain was too little too late for wheat growers. On the other hand
the danger of wildfires decreases a great deal. One can go back
and forth in this vein for some time.
It makes us wonder about the timing of things like rainfall I am
reminded of Galatians 4:4, 4 But when the set time had fully come,
God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
I don’t know why the time of Jesus’ birth was considered “right”
when it happened. I do know that God naturally views things from a
much greater & longer range perspective than we do; and in rainfall
like so many other things I trust his judgment.
