I think thats a good moo for this season of Pentecost as we experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Life in the spirit is life on the move. Marn Luther knew something about this life in moon as he wrote in 1521 about the leaven in the loaf parable in, An Argument – In Defense Of All The Arcles of Dr. Marn Luther Wrongly Condemned in the Roman Bull Jesus: This life is, therefore, not righteousness, but growth in righteousness not health, but healing, not being, but becoming, not rest, but exercise. We are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it, the process is not yet finished but it is going on, this is not the end, but it is the road. All does not yet gleam in glory, but all is being purified. Walt Wangerin Jr. once wrote that faith is not a noun, but a verb. When we use faithas a noun we turn it into something stac and fixed. But faith is always changing, moving, and even at mes slipping and sliding. It can be flowing with the Holy Spirit one moment and then be completely out of step the next. Our faith, like our lives is forever a work in progress. We cant ancipate where it will take us next, but we can open our lives to discerning where the spirit is moving in our lives and in our lives together. As a part of that ongoing movement of reformaon first begun when the spirit moved over the waters and then renewed through Gods many servants over the ages, both biblical and historical, we too are forever on the move. The spirit moves us to parcipate in this Jesus movement, associang with the sinners and the outcasts of our world, loving our enemies and being so changed so that our world might be changed. Keep in mind that we are each and all together a work in progress. Keep in mind that our world too is a work in progress. And trust that abundant life isnt some desnaon but rather happens along the road and through the movement of the spirit. I look forward to discovering how the Holy Spirit will move through our lives in the weeks and months ahead. And I pray that we can be paent with one another keeping in mind that Gods not finished with us yet. Have you ever heard or seen the popular saying “Be patient with me, God isn’t finished with me yet”? I think that’s a good motto for this season of Pentecost as we experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Life in the spirit is life on the move. Martin Luther knew something about this life in motion as he wrote in 1521 about the leaven in the loaf parable in, An Argument – In Defense Of All The Articles of Dr. Martin Luther Wrongly Condemned in the Roman Bull Jesus:

This life is, therefore, not righteousness, but growth in righteousness not health, but healing, not being, but becoming, not rest, but exercise. We are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it, the process is not yet finished but it is going on, this is not the end, but it is the road. All does not yet gleam in glory, but all is being purified.

Walt Wangerin Jr. once wrote that faith is not a noun, but a verb. When we use ‘faith’ as a noun we turn it into something static and fixed. But faith is always changing, moving, and even at times slipping and sliding. It can be flowing with the Holy Spirit one moment and then be completely out of step the next. Our faith, like our lives is forever a work in progress. We can’t anticipate where it will take us next, but we can open our lives to discerning where the spirit is moving in our lives and in our lives together.

As a part of that ongoing movement of reformation first begun when the spirit moved over the waters and then renewed through God’s many servants over the ages, both biblical and historical, we too are forever on the move. The spirit moves us to participate in this Jesus movement, associating with the sinners and the outcasts of our world, loving our enemies and being so changed so that our world might be changed. Keep in mind that we are each and all together a work in progress. Keep in mind that our world too is a work in progress. And trust that abundant life isn’t some destination but rather happens along the road and through the movement of the spirit. I look forward to discovering how the Holy Spirit will move through our lives in the weeks and months ahead. And I pray that we can be patient with one another keeping in mind that God’s not finished with us yet. Grace and Peace,

Hope Center Meal - Each year Faith commits to providing a meal for

the Hope Center as part of our Christian outreach. This year we have committed to provide and serve a cook out at Hope Center on June 4. Cantor Tom White has agreed to play the piano during dinner. We will serve hamburgers and hot dogs and need donations of cookies and watermelon. Persons willing to help should bring the cookies and watermelon to church on the Sunday before – June 3. We will be using

a Thrivent Action Team grant to help with the cost of food. Donations to help with that cost can be made by writing checks to church and designating it to Hope Center Meal. If you have questions or want to help in other ways, contact Carolyn Carden at [email protected] or call 263-4427.

Members of Faith

In April and May we were excited to spend more time outside as the weather warmed up. The children brought activities outside, we started planting for this year’s gar-den, and learned about composting.

The Spring Fling was a success, with record attendance, and it was a beautiful evening! We thank you for your support via donation or attendance, helping us raise mon-ey for school safety and training.

If you follow our Facebook page or Instagram account, you have seen the amusing videos of Ms. Lindsay, Ms. Lauren, and I getting multiple pies in the face. Pie in the face proceeds were used to treat the staff to an appreci-ation dinner.

In April, we received two additional donations from church members; one general donation, and one desig-nated for our scholarship fund. On behalf of our staff, students, and families, I thank you for your support.

In May, we had 14 students graduate preschool. They will be going on to Kindergarten in August. It has been a blessing to be a part of their early learning; we will miss them greatly!!

A couple exciting things happening in June:

The pre-k class has some chicks that will be hatching, and then all classes will have caterpillars again, and will watch their lifecycle.

The school will be participating in Read to Feed through Heifer International. Each class will be choosing an animal to donate based on their reading goals and sponsors. K-5 summer camp will be participating for the entire summer. If you would like to be one of the sponsors, please let me know.

Thank you for reading,

Charla Heersche, FLLC Director
