The Carnival was a spectacular success once again, with the newly elected Carnival Queen,

Judit López García wearing the fantasy costume called “Madame Soleil”. The costume was

designed by Jorge González Santana, and sponsored by the company Fuente Alta which

supplies locally sourced mineral water.

The murgas competition which is a type of popular music theatre, and can often include social

and political views was won by the group “Zeta Zetas” who triumphed in the Recinto Ferial in front

of an audience of over 6000 spectators. The group has been together for fifteen years, and they

have come close to winning on several occasions, but this was the first time that they actually

managed it.

CASHPOINT MACHINE

The cashpoint machine that we have installed in

the reception area, has seen better days and is

long due replacement.

We’ve finally managed to persuade the bank to

replace the machine, and this should hopefully

be carried out in the near future. We hope that

we shall be able to post a photograph of the new

machine in the next issue of this newsletter.

STAFF PROFILE – CLARA

Clara will be another familiar face to you all. She is one of the three full time receptionists

that we have, and has been with us for seventeen years. Clara together with her fellow

receptionists Esther and Sandrine and

headed by Javier form an excellent

team, and the positive comments

that we receive are testimony to that.

Prior to accepting her post at

Fairways, Clara was a supervisor

within the Pizza Hut and KFC franchise

chain, and before that she lived for

three years in the United Kingdom,

and more specifically Brighton,

working as an au pair.

Clara lives quite close to the resort in

La Camella, is married and has an

eight-year-old daughter. In her spare

time, she loves hiking, reading, the

cinema and travelling.

IMPORTANT NEWS - 2017 AGM

As discussed at our 2016 AGM, we would confirm to members that we will be holding the 2017

Fairways Club AGM onsite at Fairways Club, Tenerife, in November. We have not yet announced

the actual date for the Fairways Club AGM, but have selected the weekly period when this will be

held which is week commencing Tuesday 7 November 2017 (Tuesday being one of the main

change over days at Fairways Club) and the AGM will be held sometime during this week.

We will offer rental inventory at a discounted price: 1Bedroom Standard - £139; 2 Bedroom

Standard - £179; 1 Bedroom Elite - £179; 2 Bedroom Elite - £219

We have also arranged with Dial an Exchange a special program that will allow a Pueblo Evita

Member to deposit their yearly allocation with Dial an Exchange and request this week at

Fairways Club (normal exchange fee applies). In these cases, Dial an Exchange will come to us for

the exact inventory that the member is requesting for this stay. Of course, the members can also

arrange their own accommodation in the area and attend the AGM on the set date.

CLUB HOUSE

The Club House has had a recent facelift

with a new colour scheme. and with new

matching table cloths. Carole and Alan are

also looking to add some Mediterranean

elements, and these include a new breakfast

menu with continental and Mediterranean

options, and some new display fridges as

pictured below, offering a selection of the

finest cuts of meat, and some excellent fresh

fish. They continue to offer an impressive

range of tapas, and some of these are also

on display within the new fridges.

FIESTAS IN TENERIFE

Corpus Christi is celebrated this year on the 22nd June and is of particular interest in the town of La Orotava in the north of the island. Since 1846, the town has celebrated the occasion with “el día de las alfombras” or “Carpet day”. Elaborate “carpets” are made using sand and flowers. Indeed the central carpet in the square in front of the Town Hall, broke a Guiness World Record in 2007 as the world’s largest sand painting. So don’t forget, if you are on the island on the 22nd June, why not make your way to the festivities in La Orotava.

COMMUNITY NEWS

There is no major work in progress at the moment, although the painters shall be returning in the month of May to carry out the painting and remedial work of another complete block. We shall continue to use the same painting contractors that we have used over the past few years, and they have proved to be both efficient and work very cleanly.

The communal areas were fumigated recently, and the gardens are extremely well kept as usual as illustrated in the photograph.

INTERESTED IN A RENTAL OR UPGRADE

The Club offers the possibility to rent both Standard and Elite apartments. We also offer members

the ability to “upgrade” their accommodation to a larger sized unit for their stay, and even from

Standard into an Elite apartment. Another alternative is to extend your stay. See our web site for

LATE CHECK-OUT

We also have a late check-out service allowing clients to stay in their apartment until 3p.m. The

charge for this is very reasonable, and is proving a popular Choice. Needless to say, the service is

subject to availability.
