FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT: Our Capital Campaign Continues At a managers’ meeting recently, one person was sharing some depart- ment concerns, and everyone immediately started brainstorming about ways their departments could help. At the end of the discussion, several managers said, almost identically, “I will add this concern to my usual Lakeview prayers… I pray every night for Lakeview residents and staff and the success of the capital campaign.” How blessed we are for prayerful managers, but we know the deep love for Lakeview does not end with them and actually, it does not end at all! Each and every day, Lakeview is blessed with the wisdom and insight of those who live here, the faithful dedication of our staff, the tireless efforts of our auxiliary, the careful guidance of our Board of Directors, the enthusiasm of our Capital campaign advisory and steering committees, and the support of families and the entire community! All eyes right now are on these Capital campaign committees, as they meet, discuss and plan the raising of funds for our remodeling and transitional care addition! They are busy calling and setting up appointments to discuss our project with as many Fairmont community members as possible. The massive extent of our plans makes the cam- paign a monumental, lengthy under- taking. But our progress is sure and steady, just as was the case fifty years ago. We are again praying to see that high level of generous commitment to the future of Lakeview! Our plans will again be displayed at Lakeview’s Martin County Fair booth, where our eager staff and committee members will gladly answer your questions. As we wait for these major plans to come to fruition we continue with smaller upgrades, most recently with an electronic medication ordering system with Sterling Drug, a great time saver for our nursing staff! Also new is our electronic health records system for Woodland Manor, provid- ing many new efficiencies! As baby boomers reach retirement age,Minnesota’s senior population will double. It is going to take the combined effortsof all of us - family members, friends, legislators and communities-to ensure ahigh quality of life for our oldest citizens.

Face Aging MN is a statewide campaignto raise awareness about the issues thatwe are facing as our society ages.

Here are our priorities for preserving quality of life for aging Minnesotans.

1. Older adults should live independently for as long as they are able, in communities that provide them with love and support.

2. Families should work with their healthcare professionals to plan for the future so their loved ones will receive a continuum of care as they grow older.

3. The State of Minnesota should take the steps needed to ensure that all aging Minnesotans will receive safe and quality care from experienced caregivers.

4. Senior care organizations and the State of Minnesota shouldbe encouraged to find more innovative and efficient ways to provide services to aging Minnesotans and their families.

Here are the facts:• At least 60,000 Minnesotans will turn 65 every year for the next 15 years. That’s like a new city the size of Lakeville springing up every year, populated entirely by seniors.

• By 2030, 25% of Minnesota adults will be age 65 or older. Of those seniors, more than 55,000 will be age 90 or older.

• Over the next decade, we will need another 25,000 profes-sional caregivers in Minnesota in large part to care for our growing senior population.

You’ve seen the facts, now find out how you can helpMinnesota face aging. Get involved at: www.FaceAgingMN.org

There are milestones, and then there are MILESTONES! Dru Egeness is celebrating thelatter, having just hit her 40thanniversary as a member ofthe Lakeview family.

Dru started working at Lake-view at age 18, just as a parttime job while she prepared togo to college for a marketingdegree. But when she wasasked to stay at Lakeview andwas offered a full time position, that is what she did. She has noregrets, saying “Lakeview fulfilled allof her dreams.” She began as a dietary aide, then became a cook, the dietary manager, and for thelast many years has served as theDietary Department Director. Dru isalways looking for innovation andnew venues to pursue, so she started “Taste of Lakeview”, acatering service, as well as obtaining the contract to preparefood for the Meals on Wheels program, Senior Dining, and theHead Start Program.

Since 2015 Dru also manages the Housekeeping and Laundrydepartments. Dru gives great credit to the staff in all three de-partments, acknowledging their very difficult work, their appreci-ation of each other’s efforts, their professionalism, and especiallytheir respect for each resident they serve.

Dru and her husband Albertlive in the now second homethey built, about 12 miles out-side of Fairmont. They havetwo grown children and threegrandchildren who keep thembusy! Dru and Albert love to travel, but prefer cruises to anyother form of adventure.

Dru has been here through every addition, and she earnestlylooks forward to our planned building project now on the table. She says, “We need this upgrade for the benefit of everyone inFairmont.”

Thank you Dru for 40 years of past service to Lakeviewand many more to come!
