In Memory of: April was a sad month for several members. Among those who passed away recently were Phyllis Frelich, sister of Mel Frelich, she was also a much loved deaf actress; Mark Wickliffe, husband of Florida Wickliffe; Lloyd Hicks, brother of Cindy Blackman; Roberta Beaver, aunt of Jerry Beaver; and Arnold Jones, long time friend to many FAD members. Hugs to family and friends of the departed. Well Wishes: Maxine Lakosky had a fall at a niece's house during Easter and broke her hip. It was a freak accident. She is now recuperating at Linden CareTel. Dorothy Dreuth had a stroke and is recuperating at a rehabilitation facility. Flint GLDBA News Congrats to Barb McNally, Anita Gable and Harry Lewis for receiving the 2014 GLDBA Hall of Fame honors this year. Award was given during the GLDBA Banquet in Flint last month. This award completes the Hall of Fame for the entire McNally family. Barb’s parents, Francis, Arminda and her brother, Lawson McNally also received GLDBA Hall of Fame in the past. This is a picture of Barb and Lawson at their parents’ gravesite with Barb’s Hall of Fame Award. Francis and Arminda McNally were long time members of FAD. Jerry Beaver was on the winning team for the GLDBA Men’s Division. GLDBA trophies this year was cut into a FAD Arrow shape. Designed by Mark Naeyaert of Mastyl Signs. Congrats to all winners! FADers at GLDBA

Gail Green became a grandmother again when daughter, RoseMarie, gave birth to another boy, Emmett.  The baby was born on April 2 and he joins big brother, Aidan. !Martha and Terry Misener were thrilled when they learned they will be grandparents again.  Their younger son, Lyle, and his wife are expecting sometime in October.  Lyle and Jenn have a daughter, Sophia. !There were 31 quilters/artists who attended the Spring Retreat at Bear Lake, Lapeer.  The girls all enjoyed the peaceful weekend and were able to complete many of their projects.   Tom Inches came home to a cold state in March after enjoying several months in warm Florida.  He loved the opportunities to fish and the beaches. !Michigan School for the Deaf Middle School Battle of the Books team will compete in the National Level at Gallaudet on Monday, May 5th. Competitors are Tyler Naeyaert (son of Mark and Stevie Naeyaert) and Danny Kennedy III (son of Danny and Miranda Kennedy) and Kalib Jones. !Marilyn Belsky went to Florida for three weeks to enjoy the warm sunny state.   Cindy and Jim Bayer flew to California for a couple of weeks.  They already had tickets to the ballgames at San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Deigo.  They also visited with an old friend, Ellen Gaedt.   Neal McKenzie and Shirley Fritz flew to California to witness their grandson, Damon's, graduation from Boot Camp.
