Faculty of Leadership and Management

Faculty of Leadership and Management (FKP) was established in 2000. The faculty was formerly known as the Faculty of Da’wah and Islamic Management. The name of the faculty changed due to the outstanding progress and expansion in its various field an integration studies.

The fundamental of this faculty is based on several related Quranic verses and Al-hadith that emphasize on leadership and management.

Allah says: “Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad ) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much” (al-Ahzab 33 : 21). Allah says: “But seek, with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of legal enjoyment in this world, and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land” (al-Qasas 28 : 77). the Prophet peace be upon him said that “all of you are guidance and are responsible for your wards” (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

The area of Leadership and Management covers the fundamental elements base on Da’wah, Aqidah, Counseling and Communication. These elements are pivotal to manage and ensure the success in the wordily affairs and hereafter. In fact, the effective of religious duties is uncompleted unless by the excellent and well organized management of worldly affairs. This is the moderate and comprehensive teaching of the Prophet Muhammad peace is upon him. This make the teaching of Islam is reliable for all. It provides the balancing of human relation between his fellowman and the creator. This is suitable with the function of man as vicegerent of Allah to rule this world properly and justice.

The Integration of Naqli and Aqli KnowledgeThe establishment of the Faculty of Leadership and Management (FKP) is based on the faith and responsibility that studies on Islamic knowledge is necessary to be expanded and intergrated in the contemporary thinking and education culture for the benefits of mankind. All current academic programmes - Da’wah and Islamic Management, Counselling, Communication and also Aqidah and Religious Studies are developed through the integration of naqli and aqli foundation in parallel to the shari’ah’. Such academic programmes are designed to accomodate the industrial needs and benefiting parties across the nation. Academic activities in FKP are not limited to merely understanding the theories but practising them into hand-on activities to engage with community.

Innovative Teachingand LearningThe faculty focuses on courses and curricular activities that are relevant to the industry’s requirement. To achieve this mission, the faculty is fully equipped with various facitilites such as counselling labs, radio and TV studio, editing room, video camera and platform for public speaking. To produce human resource who is capable of performing given tasks and who provides spiritual and material contribution to social and nation’s developement in terms of leadership and management fields.

The faculty utilize a student-centred teaching and learning approach with continuous updates on the quality and relevancy of the curriculum. The faculty is committed to producing promising and excellent students with Islamic principles reflecting from the integration of naqli and aqli knowledge as stated in the university’s philosophy.

Novel Research AreaDynamic changes in the global and regional economy have taken place that has impacted the society in a massive way. Such changes are seen as the driver for faculty members to be innovative in teaching and learning activities as well as provide direction for researchable areas. Novel and invaluable research outcome are always emphasized by academics in fulfilling the national agenda of transforming ummah into the betterment of life in the world and hereafter. The researcher integrate their niche area in da’wah, aqidah,counselling and communication as integrated knowledge and values to generate the excellence of ummah as a leader and effective management.

Bachelor of Da’wah And Islamic ManagementBachelor in Da’wah and Islamic management is a degree programme that integrates the field of Dakwah and Islamic management as an inseparable discipline. It aims to produce knowledgeable graduates in Da’wah and management skills that could enhance social and nation development.

Bachelor of CounselingBachelor in Counseling is a degree that integrates counseling and Islamic studies as an integrated discipline. It produces students that are skillful and conducting counseling services in solving current issues within the framework of Islamic values.

Bachelor of CommunicationBachelor in Communication is a degree that integrates communication and media studies with Islamic studies as an integrated discipline. It produces students that are skillful and capable of creating media product and highlighting contemporary issues in the framework of Islamic values.

Bachelor of Aqidah And Religious StudiesBachelor in Aqidah and Religion Studies is a degree that integrates Islamic theology and the study of other religions. It produces knowledgeable student in the teaching of Islamic creed, Sufism, and comparative studies in other religions that can harmonize the uniqueness of multiple religions in the community.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES

FOR GCE ’A’ LEVEL / STPM/ STAM HOLDERS OR EQUIVALENT

FOR MATRICULATION/ DIPLOMA HOLDER OR EQUIVALENTS

A pass at the SPM/ GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent with at least :

• STPM / STAM / GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent and recognized by USIM Senate; and At least CGPA 2.00 or equivalent; or Jayyid and above or equivalent; and

• Credit in English Language subject at least at ’O’ Level degree; AND

• Fluent in English Language equivalent to MUET Band 2 and above; or IELTS Band 4.0 and above or obtained 510 score (PBT)/180 score (CBT)/64 score (IBT) and above in TOEFL or any equivalent tests proficiency recognized by USIM Senate; and

• A credit in Arabic Communication and Language / Higher Arabic Language or equivalents; and

• Credit in ONE (1) subject relating to Islamic Studies; and

• Credit in at least ONE (1) subject relating to the program applied (based on the special requirement of the program applied); and

• Financial statement / scholarship statement to USIM.

• At least 2.50 CGPA and above for Diploma graduate; or

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GRADUATE STUDIESMASTER DEGREE

• Suitable Bachelor’s degree with Honors and CGPA greater or equal to 2.75 from USIM; or

• Suitable Bachelor’s degree with Honors CGPA greater or equal to 2.75 from another institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; or

• Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor degree and relevant professional experience recognized by the Senate.

DOCTORATE / DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHy DEGREE

• Suitable Master’s degree with good grades from USIM; or

• Suitable Master’s degree with good grades from another institution of higher learning recognised by the Senate; or

• Other qualifications equivalent to a Master degree and relevant professional experience that is recognised by the Senate; or

• Master degree candidates that are recommended by the Graduates Studies Committee to convert their study to Doctoral programme with the Senate’s approval.

We are proud of our 254 hectares university campus, which is strategically situated at Bandar Baru, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan approximately 20 minutes by car from the Kuala Lumpur international airport and 40 minutes’ drive to downtown Kuala Lumpur.

The USIM Chancellery building is one of the iconic landmarks of the University. This building is inspired by Islamic architectures, with onions-shaped dome as its most highlighted features. From the bird’s eye view, the building which consists of three building complexes forms the letter ‘U’ and facing towards the sacred house of the Kaaba in Mecca.
