TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS The Faculty of Homeopathy is a unique organisation that ensures the highest standards in the education, training and practice of homeopathy by healthcare professionals, both in the UK and overseas. Incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1950, the Faculty has over 900 members worldwide. Faculty-accredited training is available to doctors, nurses, vets, dentists, midwives, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, osteopaths and chiropractors wishing to integrate homeopathy into their everyday practice. Postgraduate courses are delivered at five locations in the UK and four overseas. Please contact the Faculty-accredited teaching centres listed in this leaflet for further information on courses, including teaching dates and fees. At the end of training, students are encouraged to sit the Faculty of Homeopathy’s examinations which lead to the qualifications LFHom, DFHom and MFHom. The Faculty’s Academic Office can answer any queries you may have about the examination process. Training is open to healthcare professionals who hold a qualification that is statutorily registrable in the UK. All Faculty-accredited courses are extensive in the depth and breadth of subject matter covered, and practitioners will be expected to gain an understanding of the areas outlined below : core principles and concepts of homeopathy; the his torical and philos ophical background to the development of homeopathy; current scientific evidence; homeopathic pharmacy and materia medica; consultation and case analysis skills. Once their training is complete, practitioners will have gained an appreciation of the scope and limits of homeopathy within contemporary medicine, and how this knowledge can be applied w ithin their particular dis cipline and level of practice. 1. Foundation Training is appropriate for healthcare practitioners who wish to understand the basic principles of homeopathy. The curriculum specifies the core knowledge required for the Primary Health Care Examination (PHCE) and the LFHom (Vet) examination. Successful candidates are eligible to become Licenced Associates of the Faculty and may use the letters LFHom followed by a suffix denoting the practitioner’s profession. 2. Diploma Level Training is available for pharmacists and podiatrists. It equips practitioners to use homeopathy extensively in conditions appropriate to, and within, the accepted bounds of competence of their particular profession, and prepares students to sit the Diploma examination. Successful candidates are eligible to become Diplomate members and pharmacists may use the letters DFHom(Pharm) and podiatris ts DFHom(Pod). 3. MFHom Training expands substantially on introductory training and prepares chiropractors , dentists, doctors, nurses, osteopaths, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists and vets who satisfy the entry criteria, for the Membership examination. Successful candidates are eligible to become full members of the Faculty and may use the letters: MFHom, MFHom(Chiro), MFHom(Dent), MFHom(Nurse), MFHom(Osteo), MFHom(Pharm), MFHom(Physio), MFHom(Pod) or VetMFHom.
