About our history


The University of Agronomical Sciences and Veterinary

Medicine in Bucharest is the oldest and largest

agricultural higher educational institution in Romania.

It was established in 1852 when Prince Barbu Stirbei

signed the act established The Agricultural Institute in

Pantelimon. It began operating in 1853.

In 1867 after including forestry subject matters in the

curriculum, agronomic education develops under thename The Central Agricultural and Forestry School.

The higher Agricultural School in Herestrau 1915

The Academy of high Agronomic Studies 1929

The Bucharest Agronomic Institute 1949

University of Agronomic Sciences in 1992

Faculty of AgricultureThe Faculty of Agriculturewas established in 1852 and

has had a large didactic and research experience both

nationally and internationally as it is the oldest and most

prestigious agronomic higher educational institution in

Romania.

The Faculty of Agriculture provides high qualification

in the following domains: agronomy, forestry and

biology.

Also, it carries out scientific research activities in the

following domains: agriculture, food security and

safety, forestry, biology and the environment.

The graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture acquire

qualifications that meet the requirements of the labour

market from such sectors as production, services,

scientific research, education, expertise and consulting,

agribusiness, insurance, administration and integrated

management of agricultural production, forestry and rural

environment.

The didactic farms

TThe didactic farm includes a vegetal farm covering 455 ha of

large field crops, a fruit-growing farm (65 ha of orchard), an animal

and fish farm 19 ha covered with water, a stable for horses, a

refrigerated warehouse with a capacity of 900 tons and controlled

temperature, humidity and environment for storing fruit and

vegetables, a modern palmipedes DNA library farm (stock geese,

ducks) and many modern facilities for the accommodation and

training of future specialists.
