Alok SinghCHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICERMARKET UPDATE
Indian central bank changed its policy stance to ’Calibrated tightening’ indicating no more rate cuts but it also doesn’t mean
rate increase at every policy meeting. The focus of the MPC remains purely on inflation prints and remained watchful of the
upside risks to inflation emanating from pass-through of (1) MSPs, (2) elevated crude oil prices, (3) volatility in global
financial markets, (4) hardening of input prices amid INR weakness, (5) adverse implications from fiscal slippage. However
few weeks after this, market witnessed changed in crude oil supply demand expectations, as a result crude oil corrected
from its peak. This supported INR to recover from its low. RBI continued to infuse liquidity by conducting OMO. The
government bond yields eased off during the month and breached 7.80%.
The October Manufacturing PMI rose to the highest level on a year-to-date basis. The Manufacturing PMI increased to 53.1
in October vs. 52.2 in September, driven by gains in output and new orders, indicating heightened industrial activity.
Central Government fiscal deficit in April-September 2018 was at ̀ 5.95 trn (95.3% of full year target). The Net tax revenues
till September were at ` 5.8 trn or 39.4% of the full year target. GST collections were significantly higher in October at
` 1,007 bn vs. ` 944 bn in September. We think that GOI should be able to meet its fiscal deficit target of 3.3% of GDP for
FY19. The September trade deficit narrowed to USD 14 bn from USD 17.4 bn, led by sequential contraction in gold, oil and
machinery imports. On a Y-o-Y basis exports contracted by 2.2%, partly due to base effect and import growth moderated to
10.5%.
This improvements / stabilization in Indian macro couldn’t stabilize the Indian equity market and equity market continued
to stay nervous about many issues and it’s quite visible from the heightened volatility in the market.
The Indian currency has also depreciated around 10% in recent times. This adjustment in exchange rate also acts as a shock
absorber, providing support to growth whilst at the same time helping to narrow external imbalances.
The current result season is progressing well and recent price correction has removed a lot of excess from the market. This
along with moderation in global issues should result in normalization of the current volatility to a great extent in the coming
months. However, the general election of 2019 should remain the most keenly watched event. Having said that we believe
that Indian consumption story should remain intact and hopefully capex cycle too will start sometime next year. If the
global environment remains stable, then the Indian economy is likely to grow around 11-12% on nominal terms. This means
that stock market should also deliver decent returns.

INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE
The Scheme seeks to generate long term capital appreciation through a portfolio of predominantly equity and equity related securities of companies engaged in manufacturing and infrastructure related sectors. Further, there can be no assurance that the investment objectives of the scheme will be realized. The Scheme is not providing any assured or guaranteed returns.
WHO SHOULD INVEST
The Scheme would be more suitable for investors who are desirous of increasing their exposure to manufacturing & infrastructure sector in their personal equity portfolio. Thus, this Scheme could act as a "top up" over existing investments of such investors in diversified equity funds. However, for a first time investor, it might still be advisable to initially start his investment with a diversified equity fund.

SIP Returns of SchemesAll data as on October 31, 2018 (Unless indicated otherwise)
Date of First Installment: 03-Nov-2008 & Scheme Inception Date: October 21, 2008. Past Performance may or may not be sustained in future.
# Scheme Benchmark
Date of First Installment: 02-Mar-2009 & Scheme Inception Date: February 25, 2009. Past Performance may or may not be sustained in future.
# Scheme Benchmark
For SIP calculations above, the data assumes the investment of ̀ 10,000/- on 1st day of every month or the subsequent working day. Load & Taxes are not considered for computation of returns. Performance for dividend option would assume reinvestment of tax free dividends declared at the then prevailing NAV.
CAGR returns are computed after accounting for the cash flow by using XIRR method (investment internal rate of return). Where Benchmark returns are not available, they have not been shown.
Past performance may or may not be sustained in future. Returns greater than 1 year period are compounded annualized. Dividends are assumed to be reinvested and bonus is adjusted. Load is not taken into consideration. For SIP returns, monthly investment of equal amounts invested on the 1st day of every month has been considered.
Note: For Fund Manager details please refer respective Scheme pages.
