I was filled with intrigue and wonder as I read this quote from Lenard Sweet, “Find me a line with more excitement and nonstop adventure than this one: ‘As the Father has sent me, so I send you’.” Just think about that for a moment— the Father sent Jesus into the world to save it, serve it and put it back the way it was created to be and now Jesus is sending us into the world to do the same thing. I don’t know about you but that is awesome and terrifying. The questions that come immediately to my mind - How do I go? Am I qualified? How can I prepare? Who me? Where do I go? I believe with every fiber of my being that Lenard Sweet is right….nonstop adventure in being sent into the world to do the work of Jesus. That being the case….I believe it is the responsibility of your home church to prepare you and to offer opportunities to be on Jesus’ mission. I want to mention some opportunities for 2016 that I believe will help us all be better equipped to be sent by Jesus. First, we will be hosting a luncheon once a month for our retired folks. At this time there will be good food, fellowship, a time of teaching and spiritual inspiration and opportunities for mission. We will have special classes on a wide variety of subjects from estate planning to home gardening to history of the Bible and more (if you have an interest, let us know and we will see what we can do). It will be a great way to grow together. Second, I am starting a men’s lunch group that will meet at least once a month or maybe twice a month; will meet for approximately 50 minutes. Meeting place has not been determined at this time. This will also be a time of fellowship and spiritual growth. Lastly, we are going to begin a program in 2016 for FUMC to read the Bible through in a year – it is doable! Beginning this coming Sunday we will have the first quarter reading plan and notebooks available for recording your thoughts and ‘take aways’ from your reading. If you have the YouVersion Bible App on your smartphone, you can choose the Life Journal Reading Plan – that is the same plan that is available on the quarterly cards. This is not all we will be doing, but some new opportunities for you to be involved with in 2016. Let us all prepare room in our heart this Advent and Christmas Season so that we can be sent into the world just as the Father sent Jesus! Rev. at the Pavilion on the Greenway To the Staff, Murphy Mem. SS Class, and Countless others… Christmas 2015 came early this year for me and I wanted to share that with all of you. Our “Father” chose neither fancy paper nor store bought ribbons and bows to wrap the warm hearts and helping hands of prayerful friends. He chose instead, to wrap “His” gifts in priceless human skin, then tied each one with a saving kiss. Thank you, church family, because you showed me a brand new meaning to the words “church family.” You made a difference that made “the” difference.

Merry Christmas! Mary Chism
