A dog walker’s guide to Polesden Lacey A dog walker’s guide to Polesden Lacey Mrs Greville was a great lover of dogs. She had 17 in her lifetime and they’re all buried at Polesden Lacey; as is Mrs Greville. Her servants even sent postcards to Mrs Greville from her dogs while she was travelling. We’re proud to continue this legacy at Polesden Lacey. We welcome dogs on short leads in many parts of our grounds including Preserve Copse, Theatre Lawn, the Long Walk and Nun’s Walk. The map showing the areas where we’re able to welcome dogs is overleaf. Dogs are also welcome on the wider estate. Our code of conductTo ensure that Polesden Lacey and the wider estate is a safe and enjoyable place to visit and that we’re doing our best to protect the special habitats we care for, we’ve drawn up this code of conduct. We respectfully ask all dog walkers to observe our code of conduct while enjoying your time at Polesden Lacey and on the wider estate.

Control Dogs on the wider estate don’t need to be on a lead but please ensure your dog is always under control, in sight and comes back when called.

ConsiderationPlease don’t allow your dog to approach other people, dogs or horses uninvited.

Care • Please don’t let your dog approach or chase livestock

or wildlife. These animals may be distressed or harmed if they are even in the vicinity of a dog.

• Please keep your dog on a lead whenever you’re in a field with livestock. These fields are signposted by the gate.

• Please always keep your dog on a lead if there are lambs in the field with you.

• If cattle approach you let go of your dog’s lead.

We welcome dogs on short leads within the area marked in pink and on the wider estate.

Within the gardens, this includes Preserve Copse, Theatre Lawn, the Long Walk and Nun’s Walk.

For the enjoyment of all visitors, please keep your dog on a short lead and please clean up after your dog.

• We have working farms on the estate and between April and May is lambing season. Please be extra vigilant at this time of year.

Clean up • Dog waste is a dangerous contaminant in the

countryside. Please pick up your dog waste and dispose of it responsibly by either putting it in one of the bins provided or taking it home. There are dog waste bins marked on the map above.

To find out more about the best routes to explore on the wider estate pick up a walks leaflet from Visitor Reception (£1).
