This past year was incredibly hopeful. What made it so special was seeing how seeds that were planted in 2009 blossomed in 2010, and how God continued to enable Joyce Meyer Ministries to go where the needs are. our missions arm—Hand of Hope—went to several different places that many would call “hopeless.” But each and every time, no matter where God took us, we saw hope. We saw it in the eyes of the Haitians, despite the earth-quake. We saw it in the smiles of those living in poverty throughout India, Papua New Guinea, and Zimbabwe. and we even saw hope in the faces of men and women living in prisons around the world.

along the way, our photographers captured these moments that could not have happened without the support of friends and partners like you. We hope this book will give you at least a portion of the same feeling of inspiration and hope that our ministry was privileged to experience this past year.

Many countries in Africa—like Zimbabwe, Uganda and Malawi—desperately need our help. These are nations with economies in shambles, leaving a large portion of the popu-lation without jobs, food and medical care. But thanks to those who partner with us, God enabled Hand of Hope to bring nutritious meals and medical services to these wonderful people, as well as help provide care for orphans and introduce many to Christ. Here is just a glimpse of what God is doing there.

the malawi feeding centers provide many children with life-sustaining nutrition they might not get otherwise. the boys and girls we encounter are always polite and let us know how thankful they are for the meal—typically it’s the only meal they get each day. shelly meyer, International relations officer with Hand of Hope, gives a plate of food to a precious little girl.

In June of 2010, Joyce meyer ministries held a Festival of Life conference in africa where more than 530,000 people attended the three-day festival. during the festival, over 140,800 people gave their lives to christ. We could not share the Gospel with so many people around the globe without your support.

What were once clean, decent apartment buildings are now decrepit and dangerous dwellings for far too many families in Zim-babwe. Within the walls of these buildings, live two or three families per small apartment—but that’s not the worst of it. there are no locks on the doors and only one latrine per floor for dozens of families. as you might imagine, the sanita-tion problem is immense. the families crammed together in these high-density housing units, along with the many orphans who live and survive outside the buildings, make this portion of the inner city crowded and dangerous.

This past year, God continued to do great things in southeast Asia through your giving, which helps us fight the same battles of poverty, mal-nutrition and inadequate medical care common in this region. God has graciously opened doors in Cambodia to reach the hungry through the mobile feeding centers and enabled people liv-ing in the city trash dumps to change their lives.

this little girl is named Gchi. Her parents sent her to the steung meanchey municipal dump in cambodia to live and work over six years ago. Now ten years old, she spends her days and nights looking for recyclable items to earn roughly fifty cents per day, just like hundreds of other cambodian children. Fortunately, we were able to offer these children a place to receive showers, food, clothes and a Bible-based education through our feeding centers.

India has seen some economic development over the past several years—but hundreds of millions of people there still live in poverty. That’s why Joyce Meyer Ministries continues to feel a passionate burden for this nation. With over one billion people (25 percent of which live below the poverty line), and the majority believing in multiple Hindu gods, we continued to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this beautiful country. We also provided free medical and dental care. Here are some of our best photos from India.

the marketplace is an important part of Indian society, where people not only buy food but also socialize.

Hyderabad is a city with many markets where foods and flowers are sold. Yellow flowers are popular during the various festivals in India. People make flower wreaths and drape them over cars or motorbikes.

and in the city of Jodhpur, Ginger visits with some women in a market.

this young girl, while taking part in the annual mud gathering from the Hooghly river, finds a coin. tradi-tionally, the mud is extracted from this river, shaped into a god and then sold at the marketplace. Because the Hindu religion considers Hooghly holy, most Hindus consider the mud from it sacred.

At Joyce Meyer Ministries, we know that the Great Commission not only applies to other nations but also to our own. That is why we started the St. Louis Dream Center ten years ago. And that’s why our prison ministry con-tinues to be an important focus. This past year, your giving helped us bring smiles to many children living in the inner city of St. Louis, as well as hope to prisoners throughout north America. Your financial support also went to help victims of the recent flooding in Nashville, Tennessee. Here are a few of those moments…

God provided the st. Louis dream center building back in 2000. since then, He has demonstrated His faithfulness with consistent support to the dream center that gets passed along to many families living in the surrounding community. above, local residents gather for the annual Back to school Blast. this provides the children of low-income families in North st. Louis with school supplies, like backpacks, notebooks and pencils.

God cares about those living behind bars. and He wants us to remember them as well. We were able to continue doing that in 2010. Phil [previous page] is a great example of how prison ministry changes lives. Phil was serving time in a prison in the midwest when he became a christian. Now he plays bass in a praise and worship band and lives each day for christ. Your generous financial support helps other prisoners like Phil by allowing our prison ministry team to share the Gospel with inmates around the world.

In 2010, Nashville was the victim of a terrible flood that devastated many businesses in the downtown area. It also destroyed homes where many people lost everything. that’s why we partnered with service Interna-tional, oasis church and cross Point church to help rebuild homes and bring hope to the hurting.

Papua new Guinea is a colorful place. Throughout all of these photos, you see the bright colors adorned by the people here. And thanks to the support of friends and partners like you, we’ve been able to accomplish much in this beautiful country. What we’re most excited about are the 500,000 people who accepted Christ during the Festival of Life conference in port Moresby. That’s roughly half of the esti-mated 1 million people who attended. We even gave each person who attended one of Joyce’s resources as a free gift. plus, the wells that were dug continue to provide water and the medical wings we funded are still offering people medical care.

one of the most common medical needs we saw during our Papua New Guinea medical missions trip was treatment for wounds which became horrendously infected due to inadequate care and poor educa-tion. st. Just about everyone has heard of the devastating earthquake that took place in the country of haiti on January 12, 2010. Granted, the progress may seem slow, but people in Haiti are being reached—with the good news of Jesus Christ. But that’s not all. In conjunction with Love A Child, Inc., they’re also receiving new homes and free medical care. Your gift is helping us continue to bring relief to people who desperately need it.

amidst the rubble in downtown Port-au-Prince, you can find people carrying on with their lives as best as they can. Businesses hang newly painted signs and taxis known as “tap taps” drive around looking for customers. although many of the streets are drivable, the city was completely devastated by the earthquake, killing 250,000 people and leaving another 1.5 million people homeless.

the recovery tent [previous page] on the property of Love a child in Fond Parisien, Haiti, was a busy place for several months after the earthquake. Helicopters constantly brought in new patients who needed a place to recover after surgery and transported those ready to find a more permanent place to stay. the recovery camps were filled with children, like the boy who found a way to play despite the wheelchair, and the young girl who found a reason to smile after receiv-ing lifesaving care.

church services were a common occurrence within the recovery camps. the services included music and preaching. Your donations helped deliver the Good News to those who needed hope. In fact, some members of our team there were even told by non-christian volunteers that the services were beneficial for the people and helped keep their spirits up.

this young man, Francois, was working in a t-shirt factory when the earthquake hit. His leg was buried under a collapsed wall and had to be amputated.

    Page 122 Page 123

one of the most incredible things your giving is making possible in Haiti is a placed called miracle Vil-lage, where families who lost their homes in the earthquake are finding new places to live. miracle Village will eventually hold 380 homes—and 100 of these homes were fully funded by Joyce meyer ministries.

  • 124

    Page 124 Page 125

Buses were sent into Port-au-Prince to pick up homeless people and bring them to the food distribution center. many had not eaten a square meal in six weeks. one thousand and seven hundred people were fed on this day. Your support has enabled us to get food to the feeding centers in Haiti for years and will continue to do so.

the donations from our friends and partners also helped provide food to those devastated by the earthquake. each box of food weighs thirty-three pounds and holds enough rations for six people to eat for a month. Your giving helped pay for the shipment of 270,000 meals. God even provided a way for us to bring many hungry people to the food.

It really is true…God brings hope to the hopeless. Whether in Haiti, uganda, st. Louis or any of the other places God took us this past year, hope showed up in a big way.

We are truly humbled by what God accomplishes through this ministry. None of it would have been possible without the support of our friends and partners. Nothing. the orphans in africa…the hungry children in asia…the lost souls of India…the needy here in america…the prison-ers…the spiritually hungry in Papua New Guinea…the devastated people of Haiti…those in need of medical care…all of those who were reached may not have been without your prayers and financial support.

    together, we are better.

    God bless you.
