Facebook and similar websites (Twitter, MySpace, etc) are referred to as “social networks.” Because the process is digital, we sometimes forget the “social” because of the “network.” Because Facebook is a social experience, certain rules of social etiquette apply. These rules need to be understood and followed in order for Facebook to remain appropriate and enjoyable for everyone.
So what are these rules?

1.Figure out what other people think basic etiquette online should be.2.Discover what happens with these rules aren’t followed.3.Think about it and decide for yourself which rules are unnecessary and which rules should be added.

1. You will divide up into pairs of your choice.2. The two of you will visit the websites listed below and find information on digit
etiquette.3. Once you think you have enough information, you and you partner can begin
documenting it in a power point or speech (you pick!)4. Next, check out the website about bad examples of following proper etiquette.5. Explain what went wrong and what could be done to make it better—make this a
section of your power point or speech.6. Finally, discuss with your partner and decide what the two of YOU think about
Facebook etiquette. Feel free to incorporate (appropriate) examples from your own lives.
7. Power points and speeches will be presented to the rest of the class at the end of this unit.
