IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT THE RACE 02
1. With 25,000 runners, we’re expecting high trac in areas surrounding
the Race Village just before the various flag o timings. Please note the
flag-o timing for your category and arrive at least 45 minutes before
your flag o. This will give you plenty of time to gear up and warm up
without feeling flustered!
2. Make sure you enter the Start Pen on time! Start Pens open 30
minutes before the flag-o time for all categories (Start Pen opens
45 minutes before the flag-o time for 10KM Challenge) and they will
close 30 minutes after flag-o. Once the Start Pen for your race category
has closed, you will not be allowed to participate in the run and will
automatically be disqualified from the race.
3. Remember to put on your race bib which has your timing tag* aached
at the back. Do not bend or damage the tag as that will leave you without
an ocial timing. You will also need to produce your race bib to enter the
Start Pen. (*There is no timing tag for the 5KM Fun Run as it is a
non-competitive category.)
4. If you have a medical condition, please declare it by filling in the
“Medical Condition” section at the back of your race bib.
5. There is no race that’s more important than your health. Should you
feel unwell at any point, please stop and seek medical assistance
immediately. Our route marshals will be along the race route and will
be able to seek medical assistance for you.
IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT THE RACE 03
6. Help everyone enjoy a clean & clear race! Please be responsible and
throw your empty cups and trash into the bins provided.
7. Keep to your left to allow faster competitors to overtake. If you
encounter runners moving at a slower pace on the right side of the lane,
please call out, “On your right.” Please be courteous and move to the left
when you hear this!
8. We understand that you’ll be excited about your race results once you
cross the finish line. Not to worry! You can either check your timing via
our Sundown Marathon App immediately after your run or on our
ocial Sundown Marathon website
(www.sundownmarathon.com/singapore) 48 hours after your run.

RACE BIB
All runners will receive a race bib in the race entry pack. During the entire
race, the race bib must be worn visibly in the front of your race singlet
(chest level or lower) with the safety pins provided in the zip log bag.
This is for identification and safety purposes as well as in order to
accurately capture your race timing.
Please fill in your medical information legibly on the back of the bib with a
waterproof marker.
MEDAL & FINISHER TEE
Every runner who crosses the Finish Line within the stipulated cut-o
timings of your race category will receive an OSIM Sundown Marathon 2018
Medal that is unique to your race category.
Full Marathon finishers who complete the race within the cut-o timing of 8
hours can collect their Finisher Tee when you cross the Finish Line.
Both the Medal (all categories) and Finisher Tee (Full Marathon) can only
be collected at the event. There will be no mailing of either items after Race
Day so do remember to pick up your entitlement(s) and wear it with pride!
RACE TIMING 28
The OSIM Sundown Marathon 2018 will be adopting the MyLaps Timing
Chip to record your times electronically.
Runners participating in all race categories except the 5KM Fun Run will
have a Timing Chip aached to the back of their race bibs.
HOW DO I USE MY TIMING CHIP?
The Timing Chip is a disposable one-time race timing tag which is aached
to the back of your race bib.
WHAT DO I DO WITH THE TIMING CHIP AFTER THE RUN?
You do not need to return the Timing Chip and can dispose it after
completing the race.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE TIMING CHIP GETS WET?
The Timing Chip is completely weatherproof and will work regardless of
rain, heat, storms, humidity or other inclement weather conditions.
HOW DO I MAKE SURE THAT MY TIMING CHIP WORKS?
Each Timing Chip is checked and verified for functionality before it is
distributed to each participant. The Timing Chip is always “on standby” and
will not need to be activated. It will be eective when placed within 1 metre
of the timing mats located at the start, finish & split points on the race
course.
RACE TIMING 29
WHAT SHOULD I NOT DO WITH THE TIMING CHIP?
Do not bend, perforate or remove the Timing Chip from the race bib. Any
unauthorised alternation and/or amendments to your race bib and/or the
Timing Chip will result in disqualification.
WHAT IS A TIMING CHIP TIME AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT
FROM GUN TIME?
Chip time is recorded by the electronic Timing Chip that is aached to the
back of your race bib. Your Timing Chip records the time at which you cross
the 2 layers of timing mats at the start Line, finish line and at the several
split points in between. Chip time is often shorter than gun time because it
begins only when a runner crosses the start line, while gun time begins once
the start gun is fired; many runners don’t cross the start line until several
minutes after their ocial gun time has begun.
HOW ACCURATE IS TIMING CHIP TIME?
Chip time is the most accurate form of run timing available because it
measures the exact time between a runner crossing the start line and finish
line. Chip time also records several important splits, providing an accurate
record of each runner’s progress and pace.
RUN WITH OUR PACERS 30
Tackling the Half and Full Marathon with a specific race completion timing
in mind?
Look out for our Ocial Pacers, Team FatBird, and join one of the following
Pacer groups to ace your run. The pacers of each Pacer group can be
identified by the following coloured helium balloons that will indicate the
targeted finishing time.
Let them be your inspiration and motivation when the going gets tough!

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY READINESS QUESTIONNAIRE (PAR-Q) 31
The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) is designed to help
you assess your level of readiness for physical activity. It’s a simple test that
only requires a few minutes of your time to complete. If you are planning to
become more physically active than you are now, start by answering the
seven questions in the box below. If your age range falls between 15 to 69
years, the PAR-Q will be an indication if you should check with your doctor
before you start. If you are over 69 years of age and are not used to being
very active, please check with your doctor before proceeding.
ARE YOU SPORTS SAFE?
Common sense is your best guide when answering these questions.
Please read them carefully and answer each one honestly
YES NO 1. Has your doctor ever said that you have a heart condition
and that you should only do physical activity recommended
by a doctor?
YES NO 2. Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity?
YES NO 3. In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were
not doing physical activity?
YES NO 4. Do you lose your balance because of dizziness or do you ever
lose consciousness?
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY READINESS QUESTIONNAIRE (PAR-Q) 32
YES NO 5. Do you have a bone or joint problem (for example, back,
knee or hip) that could be made worse by a change in your
physical activity?
YES NO 6. Is your doctor currently prescribing drugs (for example,
water pills) for your blood pressure or heart condition?
YES NO 7. Do you know of any other reason why you should not do
physical activity?
If you answered YES to one or more questions, talk to your doctor before
you start becoming more physically active or before a fitness appraisal. Tell
your doctor about the PAR-Q and the questions you answered “Yes” to.
If you answered NO honestly to all PAR-Q questions, you can be reasonably
sure that you can start becoming more physically active - begin slowly and
build up gradually. This is the safest and easiest way to go
