Today’s Program — Tucson Unified School District

Last Thursday’s Program: Caribbean Nights

Club News and Announcements

Tucson Sunrise Rotary welcomed Duke Markham as a new member. Duke has worked with the Salvation Army for 32 years. He and his wife, Pam, have five chil-dren and six grandchildren. Duke has been a member of Rotary clubs in Salinas, Cali-fornia, and Glendale, Ari-zona. Al LeCocq is Duke’s sponsor.

Vivian “Candy” Egbert is Chief Operations Officer for Tucson Unified School District. Candy served Tucson’s students as a math teacher, in-structional technology coordinator, principal, and elementary director before taking on Dis-trict leadership for transportation, safety, and facilities. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Oregon in Instructional Leadership and at Harvard University in Administration and Social Policy. Candy has worked in Sacramento and served as Superintendent for Yuma Elemen-tary School District. Happy to be back in Tucson, with husband, Tucson attorney Pat Egbert, and her daughters, Candy spends as much time as she can with her three amazing grandchildren.

Tom also reminded us of the raffle for the 40-inch flat-screen television and that are available at $10 each. Only 200 tickets will be sold. Richard concluded by urging to Club raise at least $15,000 from this, our main fundraiser of the year.

Richard Suskind introduced and thanked team members Caryn Bustos, Tim Aalbu, Sharon Lashinger, and Liz Cohn for organizing the silent and live auctions. Club members are coming up with some terrific auction items, in-cluding flights with Southwest Airlines. Larry Lof announced ticket sales of about 140 with additional ticket sales likely. Members were encouraged to continue finding auction items and selling tickets. Tom Cariseo thanked those who have volunteered their services for this event. He said we have sufficient coverage for the event set-up, but we could still use more 15 volun-teers for tear-down and as blackjack dealers.
