FILE MANAGEMENT
It is very important to know how to manage your files so you do not lost them!!!
1. Navigate to your USER folder
2. Right click in the white space
3. Mouse over “New”4. Click “Folder”5. Name your folder
Computer Apps 2 Word Excel PowerPoint Access Projects
Create a folder: Create these folders:
CREATE AND SAVE A DOCUMENT
1. Start new document2. Navigate to the Office button (top left
corner of screen)3. Click on “Save As”4. Type your descriptive file name in the “File
Name” box5. Make sure the “Save as type” box says
“Word Document”
COPY A FILE
1. Right click on the name of the file you want to copy
2. Click “Copy”3. Navigate to the folder where you want to
put the file4. Right click in the white space5. Click “Paste”
6. Let’s practice! Copy all your folders into the Computer Apps 2 folder.
TWO THINGS…
1. Create and save the following documents in your Word folder:
Supply List Birthday List Science Essay Copy “Science Essay” into your Excel folder.
2. Create a new folder in your user folder called “Your Name”
Example: Ms. Miller
MOVE A FILE
Click on the file you want to move and drag it to the desired location
RENAMING FILES…2 WAYS:
1. Click once on the file name, it should turn blue.
2. Click once more and you will be given a cursor.
3. Type the new name.
4. Strike “Enter” on your keyboard.

your keyboard.

RENAME
Change the name of “Birthday List” in your Word folder to “Birthday Invitation List”
DELETING FILES…2 WAYS
Right click on the file you want to delete
Choose “Delete” Click “Yes” if you are
sure you want to delete the file.
Click on the file you want to delete (it should turn blue)
Click “Yes” if you are sure you want to delete the file.

RESTORE A FILE
1. Open the Recycle Bin (on your desktop)2. Right click on the file you want to restore3. Choose “Restore”
GOOD JOB!
1. Navigate to your USER folder and delete the following files:
Word Folder Resume Application Supply List Birthday Invitation List Science Essay
Excel Folder Resume Application Science Essay
Delete the “Your Name” folder.
