Third World Handarts Our Missions Council presents the annual Third World Handarts sale Sunday October 14 from 11 am to 12 pm in Simkins Hall in The Shelby Center. The proceeds from sales of beautiful handcrafted gifts go to artisans around the world, many living in poverty.

Holiday Boutique - Times R A-Changin’Our annual United Methodist Women’s Holiday Boutique takes place Friday November 2 from 3:30 to 7 pm, and Saturday November 3 from 9 am to 12 pm. Mark your calendars! On Friday, $5 gets you first “dibs” on all the wonderful handcrafted goodies and soup. Pre-sale tickets are available during Coffee Fellowship. Flu ClinicOur Health Ministry Council will host this year’s FluClinic Thursday November 8 from 9 am to 11:30 am in Simkins Hall in The Shelby Center. Vaccinations are provided by LA County’s Department of Public Health.

Long a part of the Los Angeles District, we are part of a new district! First United Methodist Church is now a part of the West District of the California-Pacific Annual Conference. In the connectional structure of The United Methodist Church, a “district” is a smaller segment of the annual conference, organized to support the missional life and ministries of the churches.

The West District was created at the 2012 Annual Conference and contains 93 churches from the former Los Angeles, Long Beach and Santa Ana Districts. We also have a new district superintendent and a new bishop. The Rev. Dr. Kathey Michelle Wilborn is our new District Superintendent. Our new Resident Bishop is Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño.

Our first West District Conference, bringing together clergy and laity from all the churches, will be held Saturday October 13, 9 am - noon, at Riviera UMC in Redondo Beach. Rev. Wilborn will also preside at our FUMC Charge Conference on Sunday, November 4, following the worship service.

Holiday Boutique - Times R A-Changin’Our annual United Methodist Women’s Holiday Boutique takes place Friday November 2 from 3:30 to 7 pm, and Saturday November 3 from 9 am to 12 pm. Flu ClinicOur Health Ministry Council will host this year’s FluClinic Thursday November 8 from 9 am to 11:30 am in Simkins Hall in The Shelby Center. Vaccinations are provided by LA County’s Department of Public Health.

Long a part of the Los Angeles District, we are part of a new district! First United Methodist Church is now a part of the West District of the California-Pacific Annual Conference. In the connectional structure of The United Methodist Church, a “district” is a smaller segment of the annual conference, organized to support the missional life and ministries of the churches.

The West District was created at the 2012 Annual Conference and contains 93 churches from the former Los Angeles, Long Beach and Santa Ana Districts. We also have a new district superintendent and a new bishop. The Rev. Dr. Kathey Michelle Wilborn is our new District Superintendent. Our new Resident Bishop is Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño.

Our first West District Conference, bringing together clergy and laity from all the churches, will be held Saturday October 13, 9 am - noon, at Riviera UMC in Redondo Beach. Rev. Wilborn will also preside at our FUMC Charge Conference on Sunday, November 4, following the worship service.
