Although the flu caused Schuler to start the season slowly, by midway through the season he was Harvard's third man. Schuler's finest moment came at the end of the season when he led all Harvard runners with an 18th place finish at the Heptagonals (Ivy League plus Army and Navy). Schuler covered the five mile course at historic Van Cortland Park in New York City in an excellent 25:10. . Bieeer and better things are expected of Schuler during the track season. Harvard's top long- distance force two years ago as a freshman, Schulei succumbed to injuries as a sophomore and seldom competed. This year he is healthy and ready to run, as he demonstrated last night in Harvard's indoor season opener against Boston College. Content to follow an unusually slow pace until the last 300 meters of the 1500, Schuler suddenly unleased the blazing kick that has earned him the nickname "Schuler- monster," and roared away for the win in 4:00.9. Eric Schuler

Schuler-monster runs for Harvard • T i c o . n d e r o g a ' s Eric S c h u l e r , a H a r v a r d jun ior , was r e c e n t l y awarded a varsity letter in Cross-country for the 1981 season.

Although the flu caused Schuler to start the season s l o w l y , by m i d w a y through the season he was Harvard's third man.

H a r v a r d ' s top l o n g distance force two years ago as a freshman, Schulei succumbed to injuries as a sophomore and seldom competed. This year he is healthy and ready to run, as he demonstrated last night in Harvard's indoor season opener against Boston College.

Content to follow an unusually slow pace until the last 300 meters of the 1500, Schuler suddenly unleased the blazing kick that has earned him the n i c k n a m e " S c h u l e r -monster," and roared away for the win in 4:00.9.
