They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws—by which the person who obeys them will live—and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So, I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness. 14 But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out. 15 Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands— 16 because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols. 17 Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put an end to them in the wilderness. 18 I said to their children in the wilderness, Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols. 19 I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. 20 Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.

Ezekiel 20:13-20

13 “‘Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did

not follow my decrees but rejected my laws—by which the person who

obeys them will live—and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So, I said I

would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.

14 But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being

profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

15 Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not

bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and

honey, the most beautiful of all lands—

16 because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and

desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.

17 Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put

an end to them in the wilderness.

18 I said to their children in the wilderness, “Do not follow the statutes of

your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.

19 I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and

be careful to keep my laws.

20 Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.”

Sid Hawkins Emmaus Scholarship Fund

As everyone knows Emmaus was a huge part of Sid's life. He strived each day to build

that community and was such a big part in so many members of RBUMC attending.

All Sid truly wanted was for people to find the love of Jesus. He worked diligently to

share the word of our Lord and the grace of Jesus. In an effort to insure his work

continues there has been a scholarship fund established in his name. We encourage

anyone who has been a part of the Emmaus community to share your experience and

continue to encourage others to attend. This fund will be available for those who

would like to attend but may not be able to afford it. Donations should be designated

to the Sid Hawkins Emmaus Scholarship Fund.

For Our Visitors

Reminder, we have a nursery during both services. The nursery is for ages 0-3 years old.

Older children must sit in the service or can attend children’s church during the 11 am service. This is for the safety of the smaller children in the nursery. If you have any questions please speak with one of the nursery workers. Any usher can show you to the nursery if you are a visitor.

*Affirmation of Faith “Apostle’ Creed “ on the screen

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son

our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius

Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried, the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into

heaven, and sittith at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to

judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of

sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
